I am not sure if they are the same as the gts starters (i'd assume so)

they are not the "same" there are two starters a 1.6 kw and a 1.0 i beleive. they are physically the same but one is obviously a higher torque unit. I have one if your intrested,

yes they will work as mike stated. V6 one will work on a 5s, or 3s or vice versa.
