If your going to turbo your car as stated in your original post I'd suggest buying a stronger tranny. A V6 camry or MR2 tranny are good options or you can buy a good clutch for the NA tranny and hope she holds

Re: WTB:86-89 manual celica transmission

either tranny would work but it would simply be over kill. Its the v6 tranny that you would want. I know the 92-96's work so I'd ASSUME that the 87-91 would also work. As for the MR2 you need a 1990+ the style of MR2 you have is an A series motor not an S

Re: WTB:86-89 manual celica transmission

SO like in the guys previous statement i have a bad tranny in my 1987 celica st i could mount a camry or a mr2's tranny onto my car? The reason im wondering is because i have the stage II clutch but my tranny has a long shift which pisses me off. I took it to a specialist and told me that its the synchros and differentials I think. He charges 400 dollars to rebuild should i just buy a new tranny from those because i was thinking of going turbo as well. What else would i need and would i have to custom fabricate anything to mount the tranny?
