isn't that the truth tho?
i mean if you have gauges to mesure air fuel ratio and engine temps and such do you think you need them if you arn't pushing the limits of the car? i don't see it as an assumption the cops make, it's more of a conclusion as it is true. if a chick is dressed like a hooker and she's walking at queen and parliment at 2 am smoking and watching traffic and some guy offers her some cash for a blow job then really is it his fault he made the mistake or hers for drawing the attention? gauges are good for communicating vital information to the driver and toyota put more than enough gauges in the car for legal driving use... if you feel the need to have more there are only three reasons i can think of -you are paranoid. -you are planing on trying to exceed the typical limits of the car. -you are a ricer. i don't think that the cops assume you are a streetracer but if you have 3 more gauges and you try to tell a cop you didn't know you were speeding then you must think he's pretty fucking stupid.

well Martin, sometimes people have gauges that measure voltage, oil pressure, and water temperature more accurately than factory gauges in the car, so it's just easier to see when it's on the a-pillar.

if you are mesuring volts you are probably a ricer or didn't build your stereo right, if you need to mesure oil pressure or temps in anyway better than stock gauges then you are running higher rpms than typicaly run on the motor so i am still right.
if driven normaly the gauges given will more than suffice. that said my car comunicates voltage, speed, RPM, lateral G force, slope angle, direction, latitude and longitude, mileage, altitude, clock, audio level meter, horsepower, and torque back to me in real time and all of these things can be recorded for study later on to improve upon my driving and my car. all this with out attracting unwanted attention from the cops and making my interior look like trash. ![]() however i have never blamed a cop for thinking i am a bad driver as far as laws go. the attention i get is my own fault and i am more than aware of that.

oh quit showing off martin, lol...
i understand where you're coming from..but like in my case, i keep killing my battery and always need a boost to start my car (by watching movies or listening to music in my car). If i had the volt meter installed, i'd be able to tell how low my battery is and with that, i can shut off my music so that i have enough energy to start my car up again. Maybe i'm different from most people, but i like to be safe than sorry :D

do you sit in your car with the motor off and run the stereo?
and dosn't your deck have a volt meter built in that drops the power at 11.1v anyways? if you have to boost your car based on the stereo i think you have the car in ON instead of ACC which is not going to be helped by a gauge. also the celica has a battery light that should warn you at the point of 11.3 i think which should be more than enough to spin a flywheel. all in all your need for a gauge isn't realistic. if you have the car running then you need an AM meter to make sure your car is making power via alternator at a greater rate than it's discharging your battery. if not then you should make sure the system shuts it self off at thte point you are talking about so you aren't leaving the possibility of being stranded to your own attentitiveness. personaly i don't like to run one myself but i have sat through two movies at the drive in with my 1000+ watt stereo on full blast and never had a problem getting out of the lot. if i were in your shoes i would take my alternator to be checked, have my battery replaced with one that has a deeper charge and more cca's and have a look at the wiring of my stereo and amps. at that point at least you can be sure that you arn't wasting power on your gauges, interior fans, ecu and other draws that are used in the on position and not in the acc. really your system (or the one you had) wasn't even that crazy and shouldn't have killed the battery very quickly at all. but having a $2000 deck and asking for a boost is way more gay than having a $1500 deck and having an optima. apply your funding where it's needed in the system. a nice cap and battery will go a long way. i can tell you i didn't try to show off at all...i tried to give him a better option that won't result in being raped by ontarios finest.

my deck doesn't have a volt meter built in. and if there's a battery light, i haven't seen it yet. where's it located?
I'm lookin' at gettin' an optima battery, do you got hookups? (yellow top preferred)

flylice... getting a boost now and again is alrite...when I had my big system in my old car, I needed a boost once, after sitting in the drive in and forgetting to start my car before my battery was too drained (long story short). but if you need a boost once, you should go fully recharge your battery as soon as possible...and you shouldn't be draining it that often, it's hard on the battery and if you don't properly recharge your battery, it's also hard on the alternator. Martin is right tho, investing in a cap and better battery is the way to go.
I have a yellow top optima, $100 + your old battery (come up to owen sound, we can swap them here, if you want it)

how do i fully recharge the battery? isn't it just driving your car for a while that charges up your battery?
