issues or concerns?

instead of pouring over all the threads and PMs i've missed over the past year or so, let's take the opportunity to talk about any forum issues that are important to you guys.

from what i've gathered so far:

1. youtube/video embedding in threads
2. lack of moderators

anything else?

Celispeed decals. I had sent you a pm regarding this topic a few months back. Myself as well as other members have been interested in how to go about attaining them.

Some site content. there's the bgb for the 7th gen but none of the others. Also sponsors and site discounts for being a member of celispeed. Also celispeed doesn't cater to any generations later than the 4th gen. There's still a 3rd 2nd and 1st. I know there is at least one member who has a first generation. Also it would be nice to have generation specific tops like suspenstion forced induction. General audio. General generation specific repairs. Technical articles.. the tech section is difficult to navigate or is not used.. Also would be nice to have spec diffrences. Between motors years/generations. Just to name afew.

also my old t-mobile email was deleted when i got my new phone and my account wont send me updates to my new email even tho i updated it on Celispeed.

one other thing. When I browse on my blackberry when I click on New Posts also get all the alt.toyota posts. It'd be great not to see those like when I click New Posts from any PC browser

if someone is willing to organize content for specific sections of the site, i am willing to accommodate it. i know i have several PDF repair manuals on my PC that i have yet to upload, and i'm sure others have content to share as well.

as for older generations, i originally decided to exclude the older generations since there was practically no demand for them. i know the Celica has a long lineage but from a forum perspective, there is a high chance that the classic generations will be quiet forums. i don't mind creating an all-encompassing "classics" forum for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gens, especially if we have owners here that would like it. i've just always believed that seeing empty forums is a deterrent to new users.

we can work this out.

As for a classics forum, I feel pretty 'meh' about it. There is only the odd person who comes around with anything older than a 4th gen, and they don't usually stick around long or post often (other than myself), so I don't really see a need for it.

Maybe an FAQ section would be nice. Frequent users can create threads in that forum addressing the questions, and people can post their opinions or information in that thread. So when someone asks, how do I convert my FWD to AWD or something redundant like that, they can be directed to a thread that will be relatively easy find.

Also, yes, a mod that is a frequent user would be handy. I vote subspec.

That make sence. Ill try to organise specific topic area's. How should I submit it to you. Also I've been reading up on sponsor discounts. Nopi will provide a discount for banner space. That's upto you, just a thought that might add new users. I'm also willing to try and talk to other company's to further gain more discounts to celispeed users.

after digging deeper into the issue, it looks like the emails are being denied by the gmail servers. the fact that celispeed is on a private server could be the reason. nowadays, to reach the inbox of the major free email providers, you need either white-listing or an unblemished track record on your IP address. even then, nobody gets 100% deliverability. this server has been online for many many years and might have blemishes on it's record from lazy people hitting the SPAM button when they receive notification emails, rather than turning off notifications in their user settings.

since there is no easy fix, besides changing hosts, you can either try using an alternative email address, or tolerating the inconvenience. there is a possibility that i could migrate celispeed to a new server in the near future, so there is hope.

Has never worked for me. Not for PMs or subscribed threads. Trying a non gmail email address now.

the discounts would be nice but there should be a set rule for it. Like say a member has to have so many post or something that way alot of people don't just sign up to get a discount on some part they need and never use the site.
