YouTube and Vimeo Embedding
After making quite a few posts in the few short weeks that I have been on this forum, I have realized that there is ability to embed YouTube and Vimeo videos in posts, so that they can be viewed directly on the forums in the posts. It is a great tool and a great addition. In my local Nissan 240SX Owners Club forums we have this availability and is a wonderful thing, for one thing you do not have to worry about opening up another viewing window to watch posted videos. For one thing this can help your computer and connection faster. It is also just less of a hassle. My local 240 forum runs the same forum software (VBB) so I know this is a do-able addition to the forum. So if you guys would like to help get the word out please post your thought or comments on this.
Thank you very much, James R. Kramlich (carfreak) Edit: I am going to pm this post to Ratco as well!

Re: YouTube and Vimeo Embedding
I would say good luch hearing from ratco, a few of us have tried, but to no avail. I will agree with you on that though, having the ability to have vids on the forum would be sweet, and i'm sure members here would readily jump on that opportunity. I know I would.

Re: YouTube and Vimeo Embedding
Its a great idea but this site does not get updated. In fact the last change that was made was the addition of the advertising banner and that was a good couple of years ago. The last update in functionality was done about 5 years ago and that was the addition of work mode as many people had in-appropriate sigs

Re: YouTube and Vimeo Embedding
its pointless to contact ratco. id be interested in buying celispeed but i doubt he'd be interested. not to mention if people were able to post video its a security risk. you can do code injection. by removing that content it hardens the websites security. not to mention i can see a butt ton of videos posted about stupid shit. were here to help with celica's and to be somewhat "social" if they want video's goto youtube.

Re: YouTube and Vimeo Embedding

Re: YouTube and Vimeo Embedding
I understand the point you guys are making, and without an active moderator there is no official control. I know on the other forum that I am on we have very strict posting rules, especially with videos. Break them and you get a time out (first offense=banned for a day, second offense=banned for a week, third offense=banned for life). But as previously stated without an active mod there is no control over this. Now I wish we could close this thread.

Re: YouTube and Vimeo Embedding
sorry about the lack of response.
the video embedding features are a built-in function with newer versions of vBulletin. unfortunately CS is running on an older version (about 2 major versions behind), and the license has expired. i need to grab a new license to start the upgrade. if you guys can hold tight, i'll make sure to find time to get it done. an upgrade would be wise not only for new forum functionality, but also from a security and performance perspective. |
