OG Profiles?

I've been thinking about making a page on the site that does a quick profile for all the OGs. I think it might give new users a little sense of the culture and history of Celispeed. Plus you get to give people a quick idea about you and your history with Celispeed. Think of it as a little tribute of respect to the original gansters of the site. This is what I'm thinking:

Questionnaire style profile.

Photo: (can be real one of you, or some random image of your choice)
Username: (forum username)
Real name: (you can choose to give it, or make something up)
Occupation: (self-explanitory)
Car Info: (brief info about your car situation or history)
Celispeed History Abstract: (your brief history with celispeed)
One Piece of Advice to New Members: (something helpful or light-hearted)

Any other suggestions? What do you all think?

sounds good to me, but i think there also should be room for our CARS many of us joined the site with celi's and don't have one now, perhaps a pair of car fields would be enough. one for the cars we have now and another for the car we had on joining the site

yeah and beyond all the bullshit i think all the og's here know that if someone could use the search feature they could get all those details on us anyways (not to mention or sexual histories and drinking and drug use)

you have been here almost 4 years. i think it might be time to think up a new kind of distinction for you guys who are senior, but not quite OG's...

If there was a new tier of membership there would have to be some sort of induction requirements. i think they should be.....

1- Recommended by TWO current OG's
2- an OG's only vote in a new forum that is only open to OG's that will be open for 1 week from time of posting to decide yay or nay.
3- a list of requirements such as "helping people on the site", "over 500 posts", "over 3 years on the site" and more.
4- if any og has had a bad experience with a member and has reason to not want them to reach status those comments can be privately forwarded to an admin and they can choose what is to be done....(basically ratko has the last say)

i think it would mean more if we kept the OG's to a minimum and those of us that have paid our dues will be able to name people that we think are deserving of such a position.

I have 3 candidates in mind.

Mel is one of them, she's taken abuse from me more so than any other on this site (other than maybe Grant, but that's between them) and i can honestly say i have gained so much respect for her based on the fact that she didn't back off and quit the site (like keys) but instead has been cool to talk to and even helped me through some rough times recently. her and i are now personal friends and i would say she's welcome in the ranks.

my other two are piney and locker.

Fred makes some of the best comments on this site day in and day out and it's very rare to see a day go by that he doesn't at least check the forum and see if he can help someone. he may not be the most active in off topic but the guy has been there for so many and for a while now and i would stand for him any time.

finally i would recommend locker because frankly i would take a bullet for him, he's like family to me and he's done more for the 5th genners of this site than ANYONE EVER. he's honest and he's been good enough to invite us all to his place on many occasions while sharing his hospitality, parts and beer with us. he was there the day of my fathers funeral and has helped me through a few break ups and countless blown motors. he's never asked for anything in return and i know that if i ever need him he'll be there. a true friend.

just my .02 but for what it's worth i would vouch for any of those 3 right now. anyone else i would have to think about.

From reading what Martin has said I personally believe the comments he has made are true (based on reading past forum messages/meeting Mike)

Not that my opinion matters however in this topic, but I do also think this may backfire because if some newb realizes that xxx person knows this this and this, xxx person is going to get accosted with every silly little thing, other than the use of the search feature

its a good thought, but I'm just concerned for the abuse

i dont think anyone would disagree with those nominations, although i wouldn't limit it to only three people... or any number for that matter. merit is the only factor.

after some thought, i think that "honorary resident" would be a possible designation. i don't know the ghetto hierarchy well enough to know what comes just below an OG... maybe you have some ideas.
