Off topic .....but need some info on your 3sgte swap.
What gen 3sgte is it?.....what tranny are u using with it?......where did u get it from?.....how much did it cost u?....parts and labour?
I might do a swap somewhere down the road so i'm tryin to do some research first.

for my swap i'm getting a Gen 2 3SGTE from a altrac...i'll be using my stock tranny for now...i got it through the guy that will be doin my swap...parts that i need consisted of Ecu,Clutch,Fuel Filter,Water pump,Timing belt,Valve cover gaster.Cap+Rotor, Distributer "O" ring and fuel pump...the engine that i got will be coming with all the sensors so i wont need to buy those...i also went ahead and got an upgrade from the rubber shifter bushings to a CNC set...thats all i can remember off my head right now...

Put aside about 4g's for the swap, and if you think it will take you 2months multiply that by 3, on top of any extra parts you will need make sure get everything before hand.
There are two stickies in the 5th gen section & ask locker, spoolinGT, boostedGT, myself, or even turbo if you need a hand with anything.

Most likely a 2nd gen front clip will run you anywhere from 1500 to 2800. Best option you can sell a few parts off of the clip to defer some of the cost.

ecu 100 on ebay,
timing belt (30) from dealership
valve cover gasket dealership as well
cap + rotor don't remember what I paid for those
fuel pump you can run your stock pump for now, but you should look for a stock alltrac pump , supra TT, or walbro fuel pump look to pay anywhere from 50 to 150 depending on where you get it from, and if its new or used.

thnx alot for the info........really appreciate it.
Another question tho........you guyz think its really worth the money/time spent?
The other option would simply be to buy an alltrac!.....(might be hard to find one........might be even harder to find one that is "well maintained")

hey stoned...

these guys did them themselves...if u buy a front clip and ask someone to swap it in for like 2-3 Gs u payed 3.5-5Gs for it all...its up to you. Then your gonna want a downpipe with a nice fat IC, a BOV,exhaust, maybe new internals if u are gonna boost more, a turbo timer and controller...IMO its a bottomless pit, turbo your 5sfe and boost to 5lbs daily and I think your should be ok..im considering doing that eventually

Finacially its never worth it. Sinking 5G into a 13-16 years old car is ..... stupid -> me.
You can't justisfy that with anyone. The swap will not make the car more reliable if not less.
Of course we can justify that with you here, sometime. Its a commitment. Its a responsibility, its almost like marriage to your car. You'll doubt your decision when you run into problem and you'll run into problem. Once you start it, you'll have to finish it. If you think you'll quit, don't even start. Just buy a new car with what you want.
Its the painful truth with swap. Problem is a 3S-GTE swap is not even unique anymore. You won't win anything in car shows.

Fred your reading my mind, I have been feeling this way up and down this whole build I'm far from done. But knowing I've come this far with all your guys help, support & advice makes it worth while.

It is worth while if you have the patience for it.

^I'm in the same boat. Car forum is the only place for support. Everyone else in the "real world" keep saying discouraging things.

Fred I know you can do it. How much work have you put into it so far, to much to give up just yet, you know it, I know it.

We just want to say we spent twice as much to finish it then we spent a lot and got nothing done.
It took lots of self hypnotizing to get this far.
"You'll get it done" "Don't count how much you've spend" "Everything is just $10, you thrown away all the bills already"

Re: For Sale: 5sfe From My 90 Gts

I'm wondering about the swap
I'm also wondering about just straight 5sfing

I'm also wondering when the bastard will even cert and be on the road let alone any of that crap

I think the swap would be pending a lotto win, and if so I'll move up to a last gen supra and let the insurance rape me
