longgg story.

i baught this car half a year ago,

It has about 308,000 km, when i baught it, i got new axles, pads, etc stuff like that. drove fine, and i noticed about 2 weeks ago it wasnt going into reverse.
i put it in reverse, but it wasnt moving, just rolling back, and it would just rev.

This happens about once a week. Every day when im going to school in the morning i start it and the reverse works fine and i leave. I went to my dads mechanic shop and the mechanic said its better to change the whole engine and tranny..together, and he looked under the car and said theres some rust and its not worth to fix. the outside of the car is nice, no rust or anything, the passenger side at the bottom theres a little bit but its not noticable unless you go up and look under the car basically.

I love this car and im thinking to myself theres nothing really i would want to buy besides a celica. i dont want a civic because you see them ALL the time, and insurance would probably be a lot because lots of punk kids go and falsely claim stuff for there civic. a 1996-2000 si would be nice but i hear of them getting stolen a lot or at least things stolen from them.

If i sell it, i would take out the cd player, because i just got it as a gift.
It has a speaker 10 system, but only the rear 2 speakers work and the tweaters, the door speakers werent wired properly from the previous owner and did a butcher job with the wiring. I installed my deck and got the rear 2 speakers to work and it sounded fine so i just left it.

I made this post basically to see how much i could get for the car if i wanted to sell. This is perfect for anyone who would want to go for the 3sgte swap. But it would be smart to get the bottom of the car fixed. my guess would be probably $300 bodywork underneath.

I dont think u r gonna get much I am selling a auto 90 Celica GT-S mint everything and I cant even get rid of it for 2500 and I jus spent 2400.00 on it in the last 4 months it has a New engine new drive shafts new alt new battery and runs great. I am basially giving the car away I jus want to pay off the 2500 I put on my visa to get it running well. Good luck trying to sell it if it needs a new engine and tranny!! My car runs mint and still its impossible top get rid of plus I dont even drive it, its jus stored!
start @ like 200.00 and go from there.

sounds like your linkage or tranny is fucked up... you are looking at between 10 and 1000 dollars to repair that depending what is needed...

my suggestion is that you buy a tranny that works and have it installed...

Locker and i could do that for you pretty cheap i am sure

as for the stereo... you probably went to the wrong harness and i could work that out for you as well...

KEEP HER..

if you sell it with those issues and some rust i would say 1000-2000 is all you will get

Martin, your right, The outside of the car is amazing, no rust , just at the bottom a bit. for a 15 year old car its in pretty good shape. my dads mechanic said that one of the cylinders isnt working..he compression tested it or some crap.

My brother is telling me to keep it as well..

Since my dad has a mechanic shop i can get a engine and tranny pretty cheap.

Is a JDM camry engine.. 2.0 litre, 5sfe faster then the 2.2 it has now?
I think i should just fix it i dont know, ill take pics sometime this week.

So for the engine and rust at the bottom i can hopefully get fixed, but if it looks like it will cost to much i won't. The major thing thats turning me off about selling it, is that..theres no car i want to buy. no american cars, dont want a honda.
I can buy a new car easily because i have a lot saved up, its just that insurance rapes people up the ass. I think i know what the audio problem is its just that i always have school or work which gives me almost no time to work on it, i took the door cover off and the speaker was all ripped and stuff, but it should still vibrate or something , but no sound. I think its just not connected to the cd player properly.

i want to buy some 8 inch door speakers but there hard to find...i might have to get 6's and put a bracket or something, then rewire it.

If i fix this car im guessing it would last a looong time.

sorry that theres no pics up yet..really busy, ill try and get some up here on monday or tuesday and martin, you can tell me if i should keep it or not in your opinion.
