Here's pics of recent cai build. Will be installing bypass valve tomorrow!

Yes I know I needa clean engine bay up. I'm painting the valve cover and heatshield next week.

Re: Pics of custom cai

It came with the honda civic intake. Didn't like the idea of using it
At first because of heat but with the location that the filter is in,
Its much cooler air is gonna overcome that.

Re: Pics of custom cai

dude thats not to good of a spot for your air intake. id be worried about sucking up water id go a little higher up with a shroud around it. or id atleast put a shroud around the bottom if u leave it like that

EDIT: nvm didnt see your going with bypass lol

Re: Pics of custom cai

if you want a full CAI that consists of actual piping try looking at universal intercooler piping. i found one for 215. a little pricey but this one is from greddy. also is your filter just laying there or is it actualy mounted to something?

Re: Pics of custom cai

The neck of the filter is directly under the radiator.I cut a section
Of the splash guard out just for the filter to lay in. Then where
The guard connects in the middle I used a heavy duty zip tie that
I use on semi trucks to tie the guard back Up and to secure the
Filter in place. Very sturdy and secure.

Re: Pics of custom cai

I'm not really sure yet wat ima do to the 5sfe. I had a 2se celica
Which I ported and polished the head and rebuilt will all new upgraded enternals.
Timing was advanced slightly with an exhaust and cai setup.

That car would run circles around the 5sfe I have now. :(
I may just tear into the 5sfe and upgrade it with custom internals
And port and polish.

Re: Pics of custom cai

I cleaned up the engine bay last night. I took out the old airbox ducting,
Speed actuator/cruise control unit. From where I hooked the throttle
Cable up directly to the tb I ran the cable around the back of the motor instead
Of it hanging over the exhaust manifold in a bent and ugly way. ;)
All of the engine hooks were removed to make it look a little cleaner too!
Ill be sure not to lose those.

Re: Pics of custom cai

surprisingly theres alot of parts you can get for the 5sfe. but you just gotta look. i have a set of forged pistons/rods for mine. but i would highly recamend swapping a 3sgte in. easier to mod. or you could do what im doing and build a 5sgte. its just expensive. im at about 6,000 invested into just my motor alone. and you have to go with a standalone due to the hybrid frankenstein motor.

Re: Pics of custom cai

not bad but the filter sticking out the front isn't my style.
Best way to make a CAI though for a 5th gen is to move your battery to the trunk and then you'll have access to the CAI system for the stock air box and you can jam your filter into the fender liner.

5th gens are a blast but a word to the wise when it comes to these cars. If your looking for more than 200whp then don't spend money on your current motor as you'll end up doing a swap eventually

Re: Pics of custom cai

you can swap the head to make a 5sge but its cheaper to swap in a 3sgte. the fe head sucks for turbo applications
