Thread revival (altho I suppose a stickied thread, can't be really revived...ah well), lol boredom... it is a pike, about 23", not really that big, but decent enough for the lake (biggest I've caught was about 27" but was almost twice as thick), and it's Shallow Lake, Actually they used to -way back when they first started - use the marel (sp?? - like clay) to make bricks at the Shouldice Stone factory...so it has man made holes and trenches. It's water comes from an underground spring, so it's completely covered late fall until early summer, than it drains leaving pools and channels, with trapped fish (bass, pike, perch, baby catfish, carp). So August/September is prime fishing, not always garuenteed fish but lots of different spots to try...altho taking a canoe out when it's full is fun too, just not as easy to catch anything and a lot more work. The only problem is because the water sits, it gets fairly warm, and the fish don't fight as hard (and some asshole from the states bought part of the land and had the cops out full force handing out trespassing tickets last year). I prefer fishing the Sauble River, comparable size fish, harder to catch, but they have more fight. P.S. I realize the question didn't call for the history, but like I said...boredom... and to top it all...a picture I don't remember being taken ![]()
