Re: The New Car
Hey guys its been a while but I was reminded of the community today when I saw my old Celica and started to miss it like hell (It's now a primer red..). The way the console would be shifted toward me and the feel of the bucket seats. Hell I even miss the flip up lights and that back hatch. Just thought id come back for a bit and see what everyone has been up to, and maybe give you guys some ideas that I have done to the new ride. Sorry to fill your Toyota forum with VW... but no worries?
I have changed my headliner, shift boot, and rear tray: ![]() ![]() ![]() (boot turned out not as planned but I still rock it. Rusted hood should be on soon (its a seperate hood I bought to try this): http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...0091614_01.jpg I cant really imagine this going well with a celica though, but if you wanna try it do it. If you ever have questions about any of this just feel free to ask. Exterior changes are the grill, tilted symbol, different turns and fogs (I tinted them but no knew pics of it) changed out the rear tails, tinted markers, Europlate, made trunk badgeless, AND REMOVED UGLY BLUE TINT :). http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...h/IMG_0465.jpg http://i272.photobucket.com/albums/j...h/IMG_0511.jpg Just hope all is well, hopefully ill be kicking around the off topic forum.

Re: The New Car
as far as I can gather, the rusted hood is special paint to make the hood appear rusted. Sorta like how you give a modern home a rustic look.
The interior is cool, surprisingly very fitting

Re: The New Car
yeah, all you need is really high shorts that match, a silly looking hat and a set of golf clubs
oh and a handlebar moustache with a very put on accent. just kidding of course :) I don't get the hood thing either

lol I actually have a pair of shorts that almost match. I saw the idea on the forums and thought it would be a cheap and fun project and it was. You can do it with almost any material (suede, cotton, etc.) and any pattern. as for the rusted hood thing, its called ratz styles. It is kinda tricky though. Many dont like it but I think it can look classy if done right. This was the first picture I saw of it done and decided that it would be something I wanted to try: http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/h...t/IMG_7997.jpg So I went to the junkyard and bought a tornado red hood for $30. Took a sander to it to get all the clear coat and paint off. Then I sprayed it with vinegar, salt, and hydrogen peroxide water (helps it rust). So far its been about a month and the PA weather really helps with all the rain and such. Once it is how I like it (probably soon) ill put a clear lacquer on it to preserve it so it dosnt keep rusting and put it on to see what it looks like. If i dont like it Ill just put the old hood back on with no worries.

Re: The New Car
Always try to pop back in the forums every now and then so...
UPDATE: Rusted hood on. Bumpers textured. Roofrack on. So I bought the wip some coilovers. Dropped it down as far as they go and slapped a skid plate on. Car sat 2inches from the ground and scrapped constantly. I loved it. ![]() Traveled down to OC for the big vw convention and went with a cruise. Had loads of fun and met a lot of cool people. Saw a Supra Down there with a turbo the size of my head ![]() And this is how it is now. Coils raised for that lovely PA winter mode. ![]() How have you all been!?

Re: The New Car
Yeah. I got lucky I've always loved the 02 and 04 golf/gti. Good thing my wife likes them too. Only thing its a 2.0 not the vr6 or 1.8t.
As for my buddies rabbit. Its gonna be a fun little car when he's done. Its gonna be turbo and a track car. It already has a full set of bilstein coil overs and bbs rims with the 16 valve. So its already a nice and simple car. Pretty soon were gonna rip the motor apart and build it back up for the turbo.

Re: The New Car
I still don't get the appeal with the rusted hood.
Where do you go to college?
