just because you put a set of windows on a car and a new bumper that doesn't make it an rx8

i have a friend with an RX-8, It's not nearly as fast as i expected it to be. The handling is superb though and im sure it tops out at a decent speed as well.

the rx8 is a hunk of memoribila... it's like going to walmart and buying a lord of the rings sword. sure it looks cool and it's a good conversational peice but once you have to chop off some heads it's useless.

Mazda wanted to sell rotory cars to be diffrent and offer a niche market a chance to fall back in love with a modern setup in the renisis and by NOT offering a forced induction version of the motor they clearly showed the world that this is a gimmic and not at all the same launch plan as the rotor based cars of earlyer years like the cosmo and rx-_'s. when mazdaspeed started strapping boost onto the 3 and not the 8 i think they made it very clear how much of a sports car this 4 door was. if anyone buys one then they are foolish and either

A) watched x men and got sold on the stereo that they could have built but didn't.
B) thought it was the brain child of the rx-7 and they wanted to be vin deisel in fnf1.
C) have no intrest in cars but thought it was a cool looking one and don't know what a renisis is.

personally i don't understand why someone would pay sticker price on one when they could import a small fleet of FD Rx7's for the same price and have a seriously light weight high powered twin turbo car to drive with pride, but i guess some of us like the shiny paint and interestingly blocky body lines more than engineerings godliness... myself, I'm a physics man that likes to have a sexy car while i make it faster than stock.... with a $1000 budget a savanna turbo could be given a front mount intercooler, a 3 inch exhaust and a boost controller and make a hell of a lot more power than a NA renisis with a chip, an intake and an exhaust that won't even make a difference based on the cars effenciy.



the 8 looks like a minivan compared to the sleek panels of the 7....

well first all my friends was a used one, so it's not like he dropped 25k to get it. as far as performance goes, for him, it works fine. I on the other hand would rather have a much faster/stock-looking car than a nice looking/slow car. I agree with what your saying and was quite dissapointed when i drove it, but it's still a bad ass car for some kid who's in highschool....
