First Celi

Whats up? Last week i just bought my first Celi. its a 91 GT convertible. Just got her running good new air intake and what not. Started cutting weight no more air or heat about 120 lbs gone. Now i'm starting on the interior. mostly blue to match the car color with white here and there.

Re: First Celi

I got a lot of plans. I've already removed the back seats and bought some black carpet to cover up the base metal. just started to paint the interior a blue to go with the exterior light blue color. looks good so far i've add white to parts here and there kinda like an accent color. oh and the seats are red. got to have some contrast. the battery is under the dash and the engine bay is starting to clean up nice. paint the sway bar and radiator started the wire tuck and paint the fuse boxes red. will post pics later. still have alot of work to do.

Re: First Celi

Is the battery you have a sealed battery. If not its a bad idea to have it under the dash. Its better to have it located in the trunk.

Well there are these post in the back that held the back seat and seat belts in and they look to be about 30 or 40 pounds apiece. I am planing on buying some fiber glass fenders with vents. i would love to get a carbon fiber hood but that may be out of my price range right now. i do have experience with fiber glass and was think i can make a new trunk lid using the old one as a model(maybe even a new hood if the trunk goes good). and i'm contemplating cutting out the spare tire hole and placing a flat fiber glass panel over the hole(might cut out 20 or so not really sure) Also the battery is sealed and is in a floating bracket. I am thinking of building a new air intake system this weekend. modifi my short ram with a heat shield/cold box thats has pipes running to the bumper to get cold air into the box

Re: First Celi

there was a video of a guy that did a 230 pound weight reduction on a 7th gen and took off just about a second in 0-60 time and that was on an auto. so every little bit can help.

Re: First Celi

when i first started cutting weight my goal was 500 pounds but after taking most of the car apart i have lowered it to 300 just not enough to cut out but i should have about 200 out this weekend plus i still have to get the compressor out yet but i got to find a belt to fit the engine and i will drill the bumpers next weekend and maybe the inside of the door panels they have a lot of useless metal in them. also the top is auto but does work and i am thinking of taking out the hydraulic system but i'm not sure how much they way and if its worth it soooo......i'm still thinking and planning but i got the saws-all in my hands and something is coming out

Re: First Celi

I wonder how much mine weighs. Lol. And jive you won't save much cutting the spare whell out. I've done it. Its maybe 2 lbs. But I got my ac removed. Heater removed. Evap system gone. Rear seat out. Floor board sound deadening gone. Headliner mat removed. Dash striped down. Body panels deadening removed. Carbon fiber hood. Ac controls removed. Just to name afew lol. I'm keeping power steering. I don't want to end up looking like pop-eye lol

haha yeah it is kinda. i will be doing performance stuff soon but after i get all the weight out and have some time to save up some cash. i know that cutting the spare out wasn't going to cut much weight but it would look nice and make running a new exhaust system easier and maybe even a dual system setup not sure was thinking of a moza cat back and i'm removing the catalytic converter already got the pipe to do it just got to cut it out and do some welding. Does anyone know how much the hydraulic system for the top weighs? Also that belt size would come in very handy
