Talking New Member finally starting the fun

I'm Stolzy and I'm from Wisconsin.

I currently have a 1995 Celica ST, nearly all stock except for a K&N box filter, Bosch plat +4 sparkplugs, and bosch performance plug wires.

I'm looking forward to tuning my car further, probably starting with a CAI or shortram and then moving on to the exhaust system.

I recently hit 40mpg with my car! and consistently get 33-35mpg combined highway/city.

Fuel efficiency and overall performance are the target goals for my car and I am a relative noob when it comes to engine stuff, but looking forward to learning a lot. I like to custom build things and make things from scratch whenever I can, but at the very least, do the installs and work with a friend instead of having a shop do it.

Looking forward to talking with you all.

Stolzy

Re: New Member finally starting the fun

The guys here can be of great help if you show respect :)

There have been people whom come, demanded help, or haven't done a throughout search before asking for help, and asked something stupid like "wheres the battery" (I'm not kidding).

So the idea is, ask for help when you've hit a wall, and have no other options, that way you learn as you go. The best way to learn about your engine is to have it break, which is difficult, but I learned a lot on my 94 Golf GL when I had to replace the waterpump. After taking 8 hours to do it (I broke a bolt off in the water pump and had to get a new bolt) I got decent at it enough to cut that time down to 6 hours from install to finish.

But I did that myself, without questions, just with the manual. I respect you for looking for a solution to fuel economy instead of trying to push the HP to the limit. Thats exactly what I'm trying to do (when and if I ever get it out of the garaaaaaaage)....

Good luck in your venture.

Re: New Member finally starting the fun

hey fuck you :P

I need the following:

Radiator
right front + rear Stabilizer bar links
tires (will probably get some from costco just prior to safety)
inner bushings
left front inner say bar bushing brackets
right lower front control arm bushings
possibly a passenger side mirror (would like to upgrade to m3 mirrors)
welding of rear wheel wells(moderately bad, foot long gashes)

also sway bar bushings installed and CV boot installed (not going with split boot, scared of it breaking)

Re: New Member finally starting the fun

Woah! That's quite a list. Whats your budget? (or is it as bad as mine. :( ) There's a Junkyard here with 3 Celica's in there that might have what you need .. it'll be tough getting them off tho, I might have an extra carbon piece (one that says Toyota) and taillights in the garage but some of the bolts broke off so you have to drill em out. Ill look for it if you still need it if I go over to my sisters place. Does it run? or is it garaged?
