Newbie - 2000 GT 5 speed

Just worked out a deal for a blue 2000 Celica GT 5 speed with ABS and 60,000 miles for $10,200. It's been Toyota certified and comes with that warranty. Just came off a lease and hasn't been in any wrecks. Worked out a non-binding deal as this was done strictly over the phone/net. If the car doesn't meet expectations I'll go somewhere else.

Selling my 2003 Mazda 6s 5 speed on the 21st. Picking up the Celi(which is about 3 hours away from me) on the 23rd. Selling my 6 strictly as a financial move. This will cut a huge chunk out of my car payment and let me put more money into my house.

Strictly using the GT as a commuter since they get such good gas mileage. Just not your typical boring sedan commuter. Still have to have fun on the winding country roads around here.

As my first question, are there any kits out there to convert the manual windows into power windows? Can it be done for $500 or less?

I'd also like to put some Checkcorp seat heaters in, anyone gone that route? I got a quote from an upholsterer to put them in for $399.

powere windows can easily be done if you can get the stock set from a wreck... as for seat heaters it's not hard..

Either did I before I really started looking. Didn't know they made them so bare bones. No power windows, no ABS, and no alarm models are all over the used market out there.

A lot of people like their cars bare bones like that though. There's less that can break.

Yep, that'd be who I stole the name from. No Use and a few other Fat Wreck Chords bands are some of my favorites. Though some of the newer stuff in the genre is lost on me...getting old.

So what are some small things I could add to my Christmas list for the car?

So far I'm thinking the S2000 antenna and a service manual.

Don't think springs will fit in a stocking, heh. Don't know if I want it any lower than they are with the high lip on my driveway and the fact that I'm just using it as a commuter anyway.

#3 Cargo net, those things are invaluable in a hatch.

nice purchase, I just got a 2001.

I didn't know pw was a option on the 2000 as well. One thing that pisses me off is the antenna, it's so ugly.

I kinda like the wingless =)

Yeah my last two cars had in-glass antennas. Definitely going to have to do something about that. The S2000 antenna appears to be the best alternative.

So the honeymoon's over already.

Got a check engine light on the way into work this morning. Will have to swing by Autozone to get it read at lunch.

Had each of these logged twice.
P0440 Evaporative Emission Control System Malfunction
P0441 Evaporative Emission Control System Incorrect Purge Flow
P0446 Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Control Circuit Malfunction

Apparently a problem typically related to the charcoal canister. Will have to get it checked out.
