making a supercharger

I was wanting your guys imput on whether it is possible to make a centrifugal supercharger out of a turbocharger. In my eyes it is very fesable, but I would still like to know what you guys think, and/or if you have heard about anyone doing this before.

Nop complete SC using the same idea. Any SC that does not replace intake manifold is centrifugal.

that's not true piney... an eaton roots supercharger can be setup with out a manifold replacment but it will be less effictive than a belt driven snail... it's just not often that you see a roots blower thats setup in that manner, ( boats and hot rods often mount them much later than the block including after the throttle bodies.) it's jsut not tyypical on hondas or toyotas.. however there are versions out there.

I know what a centrifugal supercharger is, I was just wondering if it is possible and practical to make one out of a turbo.

A Roots supercharger must be connected to an intake port.

Turbo = centrifugal compressor. You just drive it however you want. Exhaust driven = turbo. Belt driven = SC. There is even a motor driven one = SC.

Yes, I know all of this. I was asking how hard it would be to use the turbo as a centrifugal supercharger.

adding a extention and other bits between the supercharger and the block means that it doesn't need to be attached to the manifold.
piney said
"Any SC that does not replace intake manifold is centrifugal."
well thats not true... this version could be piped to a stock manifold...

and you said
"A Roots supercharger must be connected to an intake port."

well it has to be on the intake trak some where but it definatly does not have to be on the manifold or anything. i mean all forced induction would have to be attached to the intake (unless you are talking about contained pressureized motors that are on a diet of high psi ambient air but that's never been used in a car.)

and to hit it home...

it's a roots blower with an electric drive setup nothing needs to be done to the motor or manifold for this setup

and don't spit shit about ebay and boat blowers at me...

i've been in the argument too many times
