celica automatic 140hp does it have enough acceleration?

I'd like to get a Celica automatic, 140hp, but the dealers have none to test drive.
Anyone out there drive one?
Does it have adequate highway aceleration?
Thanks in advance for any informative replies.

Get a 5 speed. If you can afford a GT-S I'd go for that. I bought a GT since I didn't really know ANYTHING about celicas when I bought. Kicked myself for a while & then just accepted it.

Hey Crystal !
I just (April 2004) traded my 2000 GT Automatic for 2004 GTS Tsunami 6 speed. Trust me, the auto (if you can get one !) is GREAT ! All you have to do to "get it going" is to buy K&N air filter from Canadian Tire (cheapest !) and switch instantly to SUNOCO Gold 95 octane gasoline.
Yes it is 12 cent more per liter but it is approx. $10-$15 / month more if you drive 20 to 24k a year ! It pays for itself in lower fuel consumption and so much FUN to drive ! On the highway if you need to really "cook it" I just turned off the overdrive and floored it ! Whoa ! Don't listen to people telling you to buy 5 speed - it revs awfully hight at 100km/h but the auto is amazingly quiet !
Contact me if you need more info ....or just go and buy GTS Tsunami 6 spd !

well actually the auto aint that bad, the auto gt is better on gas than the gt 5speed, but the auto gt is the slowerst celica there is.

as for gas

gt=regular 87 anything higher will burn much faster and you will notice no difference.

gts, ofcourse higher the better.
