celica's driveability in the winter

I'm thinking of buying a 2005 Celica with automatic transmission to be driven all year in the Toronto area. The new car dealers won't have any Celicas in stock until the spring, because according to them they don't sell in the winter.
I'd appreciate hearing from current owners about
-how the car drives in the winter
-whether ABS brakes improve handling of the car (winter and summer).
-does the 140hp engine with automatic transmission have enough power for adequate highway acceleration

hey Laura...i'm selling mine right now :D

http://www.newcelica.org/forums/show...hreadid=136867

but to answer your questions

1. amazing IF you get winter tires. do not drive with the stock Potenza RE-92s through the winter, they are horrible
2. i don't have abs and it has been great. i have heard that the abs system in the celi is a bit jumpy
3. 140hp is enough on the highway with the 5 spd because you can drop a gear or two...not sure about the auto but i'm sure it's close to the same

exactly, it is a good car in the winter you shouldn't have any problems at all.

if you are looking for some wintertires let me know i have a set for sale that fit the celica perfectly
