I'm not a big fan of the Optima batteries, I've tried them and I found that They are not as good as they are crack up to be. my advise for anyone with a 4x4 that does alot of off-roading is to use a marine battery, since the plating is raised up mor it is more shock resistant, They also work well with any high current/constant flow setup a vehicle might have, since they have more freedom for electro-light passage.

have had a yellow top (which is the marine/fast charging) for 4 yrs now...was in my 90 VW Golf...stereo comp car, awesome becuz if I ever ran it dead, throw it on fast charge and be done. Now run it in my Subaru...no probs with it at all. I actually even had it fall outta place in my VW and has scars from where it hit the fan, and still works perfect...

all in all...Worth every penny!

I say if your spending money on a battery either buy a Strong Box, or a REC Marine Battery. In my opinion they are the best batteries.

all i know is that my optima fires up the car with the battery at the back like it was in the stock location... I've tried using batteries out of a Mustang and they didn't crank hard enough

Optima coil the "plates", more like sheets. Best shock protection you can get. Nothing to crack or break.
I've totally drained my Yellow Top for so many times and its still works. Car take same number of crank to start at +20C to -20C. I've boosted V8 truck with it also. The guy look at my Celica and doubt the battery will hold. I proved him wrong.

A marine battery is way more durable than an Optima battery, because they are made for being thrown around. I had one it had been through two total loss accidents(tree's are the devil), extensive 4x4-ing, in total it has been in 6 of my vehicles. I would still be using it if I didn't loose it to a car fire.

^^ i don't think 02celigts will be bringing his car off-roading anytime soon. haha. jks.

anyways, i don't want to steal this thread, but since it's about batteries...is it possible for me to hook up my audio system to a seperate battery that i would locate in the trunk of my celi and that won't leech off the original battery but will recharge once i start up my car and drive it.
I keep having problems with my battery dying on me because i listen to music from my car while working on it. haha. Within the past 2 weeks, i've killed my battery twice but lucky for me, my roomie's got a car that i use to boost mine back up. any help would be great. thanx :D
