extra clear coat on a carbon fiber hood?

does this apply for all cf hoods? or mostly just replica hoods?

i just got a vis hood, and i'm not sure if it needs extra clear coats..

ive seen people do it. it helps. some are cleared from the manufacturer, some are not. if i recall, older VIS hoods were not.

Use UV protected paint if you can. Do a few coats so its nice and smooth.

try to find a body shop that uses C&D paint they garranty the finish for as long as you own the vehicle. i have a VIS hood and in the south ga. sun it turned white and crusty. even dust in the air cut the hood making it even worse. paid 200 buck at my bodyshop to have the hood repaired. he wet sanded it painted the scoop, wet sanded it again and put 2 more coats down. the hood has never locked better.
end result

looks hot, now just get your turbo, and it will look even hotter (sorry, I still have an issue with non turbo cars and hood scoops, even if they do come stock)

i hear you, though the scope on the 7th gen is not for induction but to help cool the exhaust manifold. but i bet you already knew that.

yea, I know, there have been some pretty good convo's on here about hoodscoops and functionality over looks, and vice versa...I'm one of those guys, if you have a hood scoop (and it's not stock) but u have no turbo, it's rice. of course in your case, it is stock (well same as stock) so it's not quite rice, but still...long story

go ahead, hell it runs on unleaded race rice anyway. spent too much time and money on "the look" instead of putting in the engine. so until i am running 12s its rice.
