insurance and the swap

if you tell them you bought the car the way it is, all you would need to do is contact the previous owner, and have them say yes the car was sold like that, it can not be voided, and you win.

ultimately its up to the appraiser to say weather or not you get anything back. Heres how I would answer a few simple questions.

1. Is the vehicle lowered?
No my mechanic said I have to replace my blown struts, and it will sit higher then it does now

2. Have you done any cosmetic modifications?
No I bought the car the way it is(keeping in mind you won't get money back for those mods, unless you tell the company about them before hand)

3. Have you done any performance modifications?
No When I bought the car that was how it came, so I am only looking for what the market value of the car in simalar condition.

Keeping in mind, I would probably pull everything off that is salvagable, I would even go as far to say I would probably pull my motor & tranny and swap in a 5sfe & tranny before the appraiser showed up so they couldn't void my insurance.

they wont ask if its lowered. They actually know (at least moonex does) about suspension mods and the brand names as well as perfomance parts performance parts. The manager I talked to indicated to me that if I put tokico suspension on the car with say neuspeed springs he wouldnt be able to insure it. But tyrone if u feel comfrotable driving a car that might not be insured because you got a cop who knows abotu modded cars, thats up to you. But I dont see why u need to scrutinize me for being conservative about it.

Fact, the manager who quote you the "rules" will not be the one approving your claim. Not saying you're wrong but insurance is a "black box". They're your "Good Neighbor" when they want your money. When you want them to pay, they become the Bad Robber.

Agreed but I KNOW that what I am planning is ok for sure as it has been recorded on record and approved already by the manager. The other mods "might" be approved but most likely not as he explicitly discussed certain issues

If they put it on paper then its better. All I got from mine was "Even if you've told us, we won't cover it anyway.

I'm not scrutinizing you, I just know that they will do everything in there power to not pay you and as long as your informed, and know what your up against. Hell they could say the turbo timer you have there is too much of a mod, and void it if they want, I'm just giving you other options. Fred was truthful, and they didn't want to pay for it, fred is a nice guy but it all comes down to the appraiser & what kind of mood hes in, not what you have told them you installed or what you feel is not even considered a mod

ok but im playing it safe...and performance mods are an issue...a turbo timer can be hidden in the dash if necessary. I have yet to find a place to put right now. But oh well, everyone has their own path to take, I respect yours but prefer mine...im sure u see it the same.

I just think your gonna end up paying hirer rates for them to say, thanks for all the money now screw you, which is usually the case. Thats why I said in after its been painted, I'll pay the higher rates, only because I want them to pay me what a stock 5th gen would be worth if I am in an accident

The only comment I have is....

If you've told your INS company about the motor and they say it is OK get them to send it to you in writing!!!!! Say what they may it don't mean a goddam thing unless you have it in writing!
