Any Toyota Tercel owners on here? Lookin for a commuter car!
Well I've decided I no longer want to drive my Toyota Celica to work. I put on a 130KM a day going back and forth without any extra driving. The KM's are really racking up. I put this car into shows all of the time and can't afford to repaint my front bumper every couple of months either.
I've also got a Jeep Cherokee 4x4 for the winter months which I'll be putting up for sale on here soon after taking some photos. Reason being is the gas mileage. I can't afford to drive it all year around either although it's great for the winter being a 4x4. With all of that said I've decided I want to pick up a used Toyota Tercel. From everyone I've talked to I've heard nothing but good about these cars as far as reliability, gas mileage and handing in winter. I am also a bit biased towards another Toyota (hence my Celica). So just curious as to whether anyone on here owns or has owned a Tercel in the past and if there is anything I should watch out for? I was just checking out www.trader.ca and I should be able to get a pretty new one for a really decent price. For example a 1998 Tercel I just saw with only 87,000KM for $4998.00 Any assistance is much appreciated.

I do like the 5th gen Celica Martin, don't get me wrong. However I've already got my toy. I am not concerned about style however though for my every day commuter car back and forth to work every day of the year incl. the harsh winter months. I am much concerned about reliability, gas mileage and how the car handles in the snow. This is why I am leaning towards the Tercel.

My old housemate had a 97 Tercel...she never had a problem with it in the winter and drove it till almost 370K before the head gasket went on it.
If you really dont care about styling then go for it!

Buy an old school 4WD Wagon Tercel. Be sure to get the SR-5 version. Bling bling! :D Those things go anywhere man. I used to basically rally with mine through deep mudholes and doing 60kmh down roads that should have been driven at around 20kmh. Climb anything. :D

What year did they make those? Sounds like it'd get through the winter.
