Re: Deconstruction FINALLY Begins!

It's all the little spending that adds up. I'm cutting out fast food so that I can buy car parts too.

More pics!!!!! I can't wait to see this thing finished.

Re: Deconstruction FINALLY Begins!

Thanks guys and girl (who will now be referred to as one of the guys but did not want her to feel left out).

It was 8 years as of earlier this month.

Oh and a fun note, I'm getting 'smilie' bumpers and it makes me smile just thinking about it. They are fiberglass not chrome, but for the fiberglass bumpers it's roughly $250 USD shipped, as opposed to a minimum of $1000 shipped plus the possibility of them needing to be rechromed. On top of that, I'd have to find someone in Australia to buy them from.

It's gonna be pricey putting it back together, but once I get it painted at least I can feel like it's actually going somewhere, and I'll want to get it on the road. Money I save will be for things I need, money I get for my birthday and christmas will be for things I want. Thank goodness my birthday is next month, because I want to get my jap spec fender mount mirrors

P.S. If anyone has a 22R block kicking around, send it my way lol

It was hardest when drinking beer and not smoking! Im sure you can beat it, if I win the lottery tonight Ill sponsor your car with whatever upgrades you want on it! ha!

Re: Deconstruction FINALLY Begins!

Well last time I quit, I quit for 6 months. It was easy cuz the goal was to save money to work on the car. Then my ex and I split and I started again. Haven't been able to quit yet. Even thinking about working on the car, it was going to take too long to save a sufficient amount to actually get something accomplished, plus I never have any time to work on it anyway. Now, I have the money to get something done, and I'll be able to buy something every month or two towards getting the car back together.

I was just talking to my g/f about it. She asked me why I took it all apart like I did. Got me thinking, why did I do it. Basically, it boiled down to the simplest answer ever, "So I can put it back together." Saying it out loud sounds quite ridiculous and funny, but it's true.

Sorta funny dups, if I win the lotto tomorrow, I was going to do the same thing! If you do win, I'll take two of these please :D Toyota_GT_Seats

I'll help when I can, but unfortunately, I don't have much time to help, and there won't be alot for me to do.

I'm gonna quit smoking and put the money I'm saving towards the car - seems the only reason I can convince myself to quit and stick with it. Then I can start piecing it back together. Prolly save $75-100 a month.

IF I can stick with it, roadworthy in 2011 doesn't look like such a stretch anymore. Basically all my extra cash is going to go to parts to get it certified. But for sure, it will be painted by summer.

awsome. im proud of you JR lol.

Re: Deconstruction FINALLY Begins!

I rarely play the lotto just because the chance of winning is so low anyway. Bringing into the fact that despite how many tickets are sold, it still doesn't increase the chance of it actually being won anyway. I don't even look at how much the prize is at, I just randomly buy them every now and again.

Aww thanks JR!

On the topic of the lottery: I play the megamillions every week. Same numbers every time. I've won a couple free plays but I'm holding out for the big bucks haha. Then I'll buy every regular on this site a 3zz if you want it.

On the topic of taking your car all apart to put it back together again: That's essentially what my friend and I will be doing with her Karmann Ghia as soon as she digs it out of her garage. Its not so crazy, I promise. :-)

Re: Deconstruction FINALLY Begins!

Ok, so sad update, but I'm not overly upset about it.

I got a Great Dane, that was supposedly 1.5 years old (I had my doubts that she was that young to begin with) and supposedly spayed. Turns out she's 7.5 and not spayed and been neglected for the past 3 years. But she's an absolutely amazing and beautiful dog, and still has a lot of pep in her step, still got a couple-few good years left in her.

Anyway, the $1000 to fix the celica is now going to fix the dog.

On a plus side, roadworthy 2011 is still the plan. I'm still going to save and buy the parts I know I need. That way, income tax time next year, I'll be able to get it fixed up, already have some parts, and be well on the way.

I'll keep ya posted.

Re: Deconstruction FINALLY Begins!

2011 is here and 9 years is almost dead and past. Once again, stereo equip has been my vice against the Celi. Can I stick with it this year...only time will tell. I have made a list of parts and such that I'll have to get off the net that I want to buy to replace. Main goal is bumpers & front end replacement fiberglass parts and replacement rocker panel sheet metal (to make life easier) before spring/income tax return time. Not totally out of my budget range (~$900 before April) as long as I put my extra $$ away for it. My problem is I'm horrible at saving and really good at spending. But I've come up with a plan of ordering so that I can spend without having to really save the money.

Fingers crossed for a great 2011, and a raise wouldn't hurt either.

2011 The Year of the Mullet & The Celica, no more stereo equipment!
