IT'S ALIVE!!!!!!

WAHOO! DAM, I'm excited! After I got the points all cleaned up at work today, put the distributer back in tonite, hooked everything back up, fixed up the one wire, poured some gas down the carb, turned her over...vr...vrr..vroooommm! wahoo!!!! run for a little bit and then run outta gas of course, lol!

I'm like, well I'm done, but I didn't feel like going home yet so, I took a look in my manual...since I've found the 20R section...and tried to figure out why the tach wasn't working. I need to get a test light again (which I should really invest in one of my own) I figured out that the wire from the ignition works, but the wire that goes from the engine compartment to the back of the tach, doesn't work. One of two problems...wire is fucked somewhere along the way...doubtful. More likely it has something to do with the ground connection on the back of the tach...hmmm definitely a noodle scratcher!

EDIT : broke down and bought my own test light...good thing too, certainly helped find the problem with the tach. It was the wire from the coil to the back of the tach. Pretty easy fix once I figured out not to care about the extra wire that I haven't figured out what it does yet. I got the wire replaced...not quite run exactly the same route as the other one, but close enough. Hooked it all up, tested it at the plug, and worked beauty. So I plugged it all in, dumped some more gas in 'er, started her up again, and . Fucking thing is loud with no exhaust,

next step : reverse lights, and grinding down the body.

WEBSITE Updated...still no pics which is pissing me off, but ah well, other than buying my own digital camera I can't really do anything about it

well, since no one has any replies (which I don't blame ya, there isn't much to reply to) I'm just gonna keep updating the site unless I get some pics finally...in which case I'll prolly just post a link in my sig.

I'm making some progress, I just wish I could get my buddy's ass in gear so we can start doing the body work...hard to do when he's pretty busy with his own stuff too, and I'm not paying him...so ah well...hopefully spring time soon

alrite, for anyone too lazy to check out the website (or you don't like to try and read my crap)

quick update. Body work has begun, couple surprises (some good, more bad) but it's all good. Cash flow is low...too many bills, not enough money. Not gonna worry too much anymore tho, gonna take it one step at a time, step 1, sanding and replacing metal.

all in all, hopefully can still have it done for summer months. Even if it's late august before we're done, I'll put it on the road for 2-3 months, fuck it...but if not, got kids to clothe and feed so can't do much about it, there's always next summer. Crossing my fingers, hopin super7 will come thru,

ads are annoying, but I'm too cheap to pay for webspace as we already know, background is crappy cuz I suck at webpages but it could be worse. I changed the font, now white, not bolded, seems alot easier to read. (personally I thought that was a problem too but didn't want to fuck around with it at the time...but since I got nothing better to do, it looks better...I think, meh) anyway, thanx martin

alrite, for those too lazy to look thru a bunch of pics
quick recap
used to look like this...

now looks like this...

actually there is a bit more sanded, but not much

imagine these, except partly blue, had to be painted, and I figured out why it took me a whole spray can of vinyl paint to do it (I'm getting better at these things)

and from this to this...

alrite, so I worked on it for about 30 mins last nite, and due to stress levels over stupid things going on right now, I couldn't get into it, so I stopped. Hopefully I can go work on it again before the weekend, when I have to move it to my parents new garage.

I brought some of my stuff out there that I had laying around work...and then I brought out some more tonite. I showed my mom the "new" wheels I had for it, and told her that I was missing one of the center caps. And then she made me laugh...she asked why I didn't go scrounge thru some junkyards for it. I said, where in southern cali, or florida maybe, lol! I've already thought of asking someone in the states to help, but can't afford to bother to spend $20-30 bux on someone to go junkyard hunting for me, when the chances of finding something are slim to nil to begin with. So alas, I will do without...of course eventually I will be getting some fancier wheels anyway...of course who the hell knows when that'll be...one of the last things on my list right now.

I also got my tires from work...luckily I know someone with a tire machine, so that when I do finally finish my rims, and clearcoat them, I can get the tires put on...

hopefully I'll remember to borrow the camera to get some pics of it outside in some sunlight...and hopefully it doesn't rain on saturday! if I do, I'll be sure to post something

Good news : we got the car moved into the new shop today, without any rain

Bad news : I broke the ebrake cable...I think...and will have to see what happened...I heard a *SNAP* and then no brakes...don't know where or how it broke yet...eeeeeeee, little concerned, sounds like it might cost some money to fix.

well I maybe doing a 22R/20R conversion after all (with a 7.2:1 compression ratio...mmm I can hear the boost calling my name...2 yrs from now ;) ) . I have no money, but I have a 22R block waiting for my pickup. Just have to find out a definitive price (close to $0 I've been told).

well since I haven't had any time or space to work on the car...I thought I'd do a pictorial story of storage to current of the car...just to waste some time...

Storage - crappy quality

fresh outta storage...

the teardown...

beginning the grind down process...

sanding it down...

moving to the new shop...

in the new shop...

some cleaned up parts (including original rims from another 77 Celica)...

well it's been fun, hopefully Ican work on it again soon...
