short shifter vs cut

whats everybodys opionon on buying a short shifter vs just cuting the stock one?
do you think its worth spending the money or is cutting just as good.

I know somebody selling a twm short shifer with a trd leather knob wth leather boot for $100 and i really dont like the stock one in my car as the people who have seen it know and have made some interesting comments...

TWM for $100 is a great deal. Definetly pick it up. Short shifters are balanced making easier shifting. Cutting a shifter will not retain its balance, and will make shifts sloppier. Plus a TRD knob, can't complain bout that.

$100 is cheap for the TWM especially it the knob is included. I put in a TWM a couple weeks ago and it is a world of difference. If you cut the stock shifter, I think the throws will actually be longer for some reason.

i make my own from the stock shifter for the 5th gens (they arn't as great for 7th's) and i move the ball!

I can honestly say from having a cut shifter on my first 7th gen celica to a TWM that there really isnt a noticable difference. Anyone who ever drove my car prior to the TWM asked what kind of short shifter I had. The only thing I did like about the TWM was the more mechanical feel of the shifts.

even though you wouldn't notice the difference..I would still say go with an actual short shifter.

you can't knock twm for their product. they still make good short shifters.
