Idle At Cold Start Up????
I have a 5sfe in a 1990 celica GTS.

When I start my car when it is cold outside or has not been driven for about 7 hours+. It idles around 1500rpm for about 2 seconds and then goes up to 2200 rpm.

normally it would go directly to 2200 rpm.

what could be the problem.........other than this the car runs fine

your car shouldn't be idling at 2200, should be around 1500 when cold, and around 1000 when warmed up.

mine idles at abotu 1680-1690 till it gets to about 1/8th of the temp gauge then settles at 780-790 EVERYTIME regardless of weather

clean the IAC valve underneath the throttle body. my camry did the same last winter, then i replaced the whole throttle body and IAC sensor and the idle problem went away.

after warmed up it idles around 750-1000

but when i 1st start the car it goes up

keep in mind dale has the older 5sfe...it's got the coldstart injector and shit and the ecu is all whack for cold starts

IAC sensor woudl be a good start though
