17 or 18 inch rims? what to get

Hi,

I have a 2002 Celica GT-S. I lowered my car 2 inches and I want to change the rims to either 17 or 18 inch. I have the stock 16 inch ones now, but im thinking of upgrading tp motegi DP12 or DP6. What size do you guys recommend?

I recently purchased 17inch for my WRX (and fat tyres) but now I am selling them so I can buy 18inch. *

17's are better only if you got lowering springs.. without lowering springs it looks ugly... to big of a gap between wheel and wheelbase... 18's i had them before on my celi they suck!!!!!! to rough!!!!! and no my roads aight that bad and they throw ur speedometer off too... pain in a butt whenever you get pulled over for speeding whenever it seemed like you were going by speedlimit.... so 17's are way better choice for looks and performance!!!!!

I concur. With a solid suspension system and quality tires you shouldn't have a problem with 18's. And as for throwing off your speedo/odo you can get 18's with a profile height that will match your original tire height.

I have 225/40ZR18 (not the same tire height as my originals) and for every 25km, the celi actually goes 1km more, so If I was going 100km/h I would only really be going 104km/h... so not too much to worry about.. better for resale if you ask me, lower mileage on the od. * ;)

yes you can get the best of both worlds if you get Light Weight 18's.... but they are usually very $$

what are you looking for?

Performance or Looking good?

Definitely avoid MOTEGI rims altogether as they are cheap and heavy and you can buy them @ Canadian Tire.

Too many people have Motegi's... I was in the same position in the beginning of the summer. Picking rims is the biggest pain in the @$$. And you can never tell how its going to look until they are on your car. I ended up getting 18' Enkei MM2 Antracite w/polished lip with Falken GRB FK451 215-35ZR18. I don't regret getting them.
