u dont get such a low profile with a 17" on a celica
tire options to stay as close as possible to stock

205-45-17
215-40-17
215-45-17
225-40-17 (tire virtually not made by any manufacturer)
235-40-17 <-- my fav. pick of course

the sidewall will bubble more
it's not so bad on a 225-50 but with a smaller profile it will look ugly
if your way off, ur ride will be unsafe

NB tire width is manufacturer dependent.. e.g. a Yokohama 205 may not be the same size as a Pirelli 205

tire companies will recommend a rim width for their tires

ERRRR wrong

the reason is simple

if a tire is 225mm wide and the rim is smaller than the tire the side walls will be shaped like this to meet the rim.

/_________\

you want this

I__________I

or else you are flexing the tires...or you may also have the broblem of slow leaks if you make the rubber "reach

so lets say you have a 245 on a 7.0 rim with a 40% side wall

the rim=
----------

the tire=
-------------

the side wall=
----

imagin the shape that would make... now think of the shape of the tire wanted to pull off the rim in a corner...

the bubbling is not going happen if you have good tires... i mean my scorchers bubbled due to camber but a nice pair of toyos would have held

maybe bubbling is a bad term
but for a given tire and rim width, the larger ur sidewall, the closer its will approach 90 degrees
i.e. if ur rim is too small for ur tire, it will be more obvious on a lower profile tire

one way or another, every1 wants to get as square a look as possible; i.e. the perfect size rim for a given tire
