time to buy new tires/rims
Celica 2002 GT-S
I'm on 205/50/R16's and am thinking of going: 215/35/R18's Is this bad or good? Will it rub? Should I go 17 instead? Will I have to drop my car or not? Any help would be greatly appreciated :) Thanks everyone. ps: I'm a Montrealer, and I used to live in Toronto and miss Canada so much. Canada ROCKS!

Yo. I'm also getting some new rims very shortly. I am also going 215/35R18. Number 1-Yes they do fit. 18x7.5 no problem. I'm pretty sure you can go 18x8 with the right offset to fit, otherwise, you most likely will experience inside tire rub when turning. Your speedo should read slightly faster at 100km/h then it did stock. I think its 0.624% too fast (that's from going 60mph stock to 60.3mph with 215/35R1
Hope that helps... What kind of rims/tires you looking at? I'm pretty sure i'm gonna go with Konig Theory Graphite with machined lip 18x7.5 (20.26lbs) with Falken GRB FK-451 tires. I'm pretty gonna purchase them in the states cause currency exchange is kick ass right now. I can get the whole deal rims/tires that I mentioned for $1555 Canadian. On an interesting note... it will most likely be hard to find Konig wheels right now. The company couldn't keep up with the demand this spring and the warehouse is basically empty ROFL |

hey man, thanks for all the info. Unfortunately for me, I'm just starting to understand all this stuff. I can actually read a tire now! lol
I'm looking at a few, tell me what you think: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...8959 518&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...9089 525&rd=1 (you can see the tire on this one) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1 lemme know what you think :) btw, yeah, the exchange is outstanding for you and horrible for me. I'm still paying my Celica in Montreal which is totally screwing me, but I love her, and she's worth it. lol

can someone explain the offset? I don't understand what that is... will this fit on a celica gt-s 2002? (please say yes.) will they rub if they are 215/35/18 tires? (please say no) thanks everyone.

Your best bet is to drop the car, and get 17's, 18's are just making your car that much slower. 17's are a bit bigger, but you wont have as much loss, then you would get with 18's. Although 18's look nice. If your going for looks, go with 18's, if your going for performance, go 17's. Plus if your going for performance, 17's are cheaper on tires, and you'll probably be going through tires more frequently.
Good luck.
