How To Pronounce Celica

Ok guys this has been driving me nuts! I have been around for quite some time and I've known about the Celica for decades! From day 1 I have known it to be pronounced as CE-LI-CA not SELL-EE-KA its freakin driving me nuts!! I got to a parts store and say ' I have a 90 CE-LI-CA and the fucker has to repeat it and say ' "OH A 90 SELL-EE-KA, I SEE' like im a freak who pronounced it wrong!! I've had it! Everyone in the states that I know pronounces it CE-LI-CA but it seem like only Canadians (not all fo them) love making the damn car FRENCH! I looked up Celica commercials and it is pronounced CE-LI-CA. For those of you who still wish to correct me when I go to buy parts at you auto parts shops please see these commercials FROM TOYOTA, and stop correcting my asian ass! I may drive slow and eat rice but I can pronounce Celica properly.

I don't know why it is commonly pronounce sell-eek-ah, but more than likely it has to do with how it is spelt. The "a" would make the "i" a "ee" sound, making it "eekah" instead of "icka". I still pronounce it sell-eek-ah, even tho I know how it is supposed to be pronounced...force of habit I suppose

but I yell out 'It's a Ce-li-ca!... yeah its got 2nd gear! jer*!!'

I dont mind how people say it .. I just hate when auto parts guys get that little chuckle when they repeat it back to me.... oh well however we say it.. as a long as we look good saying it.. its better to look good then to feel good..

Its funny my girlfriend hates when people call it a sell-ika, I also own an audi. and there are two different ways this is said.

haha show her the ad , looks like mostly Canadians say it Sellic ... even the Canadian commercials say it like that. but the japanese say it Ce le ca ... and tye invented it! go figure..

I'm canadian and i say it ce le ca. Cause to say it sellica it would have to have an s and two l's.
