Im a guy, and personally, I love the Toyota Celica for its looks and cost. I wouldnt dream of paying $10k for any other car on the market.

But all my friends say, dude! thats a chick car. This reallly ticks me off. Do any of u get that criticism from people? I mean the name "Celica" :S But still im getting 1 regardless and fu*k wat others say about it ...

Bout for the record what do you guys say? Is it a "girls" car ? is it ok for guys to buy them (in black, blue, silver)?? details plz

Do you really care? No matter what you drive, somebody is going to bash it for some fault they think is valid. Just get what you want, and enjoy it.

^^ exactly..i get it all the time "oh...the celica's a chick car" but then again, their girlfriends or their moms are not driving celicas. forget about what they think, a car that you buy is your car, not theirs.

This is not an "ultimate debate". It's a handful of ignorant pricks trying to get a rise out of their libidos. I've only heard one person mention that they were less-than-fond of the Celica's name, but it's not like he could talk, because he was driving a Ford Probe...

In any case, it's just a name, but if you're that desperate to avoid attention, rip off your badges and replace them with those from an older Mitsubishi Eclipse--they have similar bodies (from behind) and badge fonts.

For the most part, it is because most guys have the macho mentality.I'm used to hearing that import cars = chick cars while loud, roaring american classic muscle cars = guy cars.These same people have the mentality the more horsepower = the bigger their dick is.Its kinda sad when you think about it.

I agree completely. It doesn't matter what you buy, whether it's just for a daily driver or a fun car, there will be someone there to heckle you over your choice. I'm trying to get a civic as a daily driver...I live in a hick town, everyone asks me if I'm going to put a "soup can" on, or ask "what's it got for a motor?" mockingly. If tell people I have a old car I'm fixing up, and they ask what it is, when I say a 77 celica...I sometimes get strange looks, or "wtf for?" etc etc. It's all a matter of knowing what you want, and not giving a shit about what others think

back to the original "debate"...if you look at the members of this forum...It would seem the celica isn't such a chick car. The majority of members on this celica forum are male. Most, if not all of us, either own a celica, or have owned one in the past.

If you think about it The Supra is one of the most wanted and longed for cars of the import industry.... So when People tell me its a girl car I just say how they used to be called celica supra's until the names branched apart and if they were a car person they might know that. Then if the harrasment persists.... race'em

and I think you wanted these sort of answers or else you wouldn't have asked them on a celica forum... so just buy the car.

i drive a delsol and a talon, both have large chick car status and with the right mods none of my guy friends say shit about it.... i had a guy in a bmw 325i make fun of the honda this summer, i blew his doors off in a straight line, lost him around some curvey roads in the escarpment then opened up on him in 3rd gear from a rolling start on the 401.... now he wants to drive it and switch cars all the time.....

girl cars or not, anything done clean and made fast will earn respect. grab tein coilovers, 18's, a greddy turbo kit and a in dash dvd and a profec b boost controller and some hids. buy the car in white or black, lose the wing, tint the windows and get the badges off the hatch. i don't care who you know or what they drive, no one will call it a girls car. and when you do the work your self you could have a car for 10 gs and a project for another 10 that may take a year but would result in a really cool car with no weak points other than being front wheel drive.
