Wheel spacers?
I have a buddy at work with a Toyota Matrix (not a Celica I know, but for this question I'm sure the Celica enthusiasts here can help :D )
He bought aftermarket 18x8 wheels and doesn't like the way the rears don't sit flush with the fender (about 1 1/4" in). He wants wheel spacers but neither him nor I have any clue about spacers and what needs to be done to use 'em. I did some research and the Matrix shares the same bolt pattern (5x100) as the Celica, so I'm assuming that a set of Celica spacers will work for his application. The question is, can he just buy spacers and bolt them on? Or will he need longer studs? Any help at all is much appreciated! |

depends on the size of the spacers. generally 5-10mm are no big deal so you can use the stock studs. anything thicker usually comes with its own longer replacements studs, such as the ones from H&R. By the sounds of it, I would grab a 10mm spacer and see how it goes. I believe H&R includes longer studs with all of its spacer kits JUST in case.

I've got a Matrix. :D
Personally, I would've gotten a rim w/ a proper offset to begin with. Everytime I hear about someone getting spacers they follow up w/ a story about studs breaking. I've only seen one dude use spacers and they were custom made.

Thanks for the info! Unfortunately he measured and he's looking for about 25mm. I'm guessing he will definitely need one with studs then... I suspected he might.
In hindsight he wishes he had gotten a different offset, but to late now. ![]() |
