what engin?

I have a 1987 toyota celica GT with a 4 cylinder? What 4 cylynder is the question?The guy i got the car from said the engin was a transplant but couldnt tell me any usefull information.I ned to know where the engin Nubers would or should be?The problem i am haveing is i have a starting problem it basically starts when it wants if i bump the starter with a wrench it will start.This is the third starter i have put on it I have replaced the battery the starter switch and the lock cylynder the battery cables and i am at a loss what i am wondering is if maybe this is the wrong starter to many amps?can anyone please help me as i am redy to blow it up!!!

its either a 3sfe, 5sfe or 3sge

it was supposed to come out of a 1997 toyota of some sort?
I just need to figure it out so that i can make sure i am getting the right starter as the original on this engine was replaced with one with the same peoblem?

whats the displacement? 2200 or 2000 (should be marked on the engine in big letters

where would i look on the block to be able to tell i have check and seen the some have a 1.4 kilowatt starter and some have a 1.0?I believe this is the problem i am having is the starter i have is pulling to much juice for the system?Basically its a new starter the 3rd one and all have the same symptoms no start i bump the starter with a wrench and it starts battery and the whole starting system is new?It is really ingratiating me at this point is a good running car once you get it to start?there is no one thing i can narrow it down to but the starters are sticking or not getting enough power to engage even thought the system is fully charged?

Check all your grounds.

i have already done that even added 3 ground straps and have moved battery ground 3 times to no avail i am a pretty good mechanic but this shit has me baffled? I have basically covered all the basics and some of the not so basic and nothing changes it?
