Brakes Dragging? What's Wrong...

New to this board, so hope I'm not making a faux pas with this post. I tried a search but was unsuccessful in finding an answer. Not sure how to ask or describe this problem clearly, but I'll give it a try.

'94 Celica's front brakes are "dragging"--after lifting the car, the wheel is very difficult to turn by hand. That's to say that there is a persistent pressure on the pads, even without the brake pedal being depressed. So I suspected a sticking caliper and pulled the DS caliper off (with some effort) and found I could simply push the piston in with a C-clamp. Evidently no sticking at all. Lifted the PS and it too is dragging just as bad as the DS. Rears don't drag at all, though they're drums. After pressing in the caliper pistons and repressurizing the system (pumping brake pedal), it's back to that "stuck" feeling.

Anyone know what I'm dealing with? Sticky caliper? Bad MC? Something else? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Tom

your car uses the same breakes as mine... are your pads in good shape?

it would be your master cylinder or lines. i would try swaping out the MC then if there is no diffrence i woudl test the whole systems lines...

i would say that you should do your springs, shims and pads before you finsih the job just to be sure... KVR pads are my recomendation, www.ElementAutoworks.com can get you a good price on the pads (cheaper than oem prices for carbonfiber brake pads) then call toyota for the shims and springs... which were about 30 each for the fronts.

most importantly DO NOT FUCK WITH YOUR BRAKES UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING!!! they are a vital part of the safty of your car and arnt to be tampered with by an amature that like to mess with his car.. if you really want to do it i owuld recomend gettin a professional to come over by coaxing them with beer and pizza jsut to "supervise"

hope i helped and welcome to the site...

while you are here please post up a "newbie post" to introduce your self and your car...
