2003 celica recall on check valve in gas tanmk
has anyone had this recall? I'm also curious if anyone knows what a check valve is and what it looks like. I think that the toyota dealer up here are a bunch of lazy asses...

I had it done took bout an hour to do. I think it tends to come loose and fall in the tank it is the device that makes the pump click when the tank is full

Ok it's my turn to rant. I ordered my gas tank for the recall at the beginning of july. I noticed the little metal flap that flips down when u gas up was gone. Toyota said they'd call me as soon as it came in. Waited 3 weeks. Nothing. Called back and they said it wasn't ordered yet. Waited 3 more weeks. Still no call. Called back and they said it came in, but because I didn't call earlier, they gave it away to someone else. Waited 2 weeks again for another tank to come in. Still no call. Called back again and they said they had it for over a week. How nice? Booked my appointment, and I was advised not to have too much gas in my tank when I dropped it off. I had just under less than a quarter of a tank when I dropped it off yesterday morning. They told me it would take all day to change the tank. When I went to pick it up, they left my car completely bone dry, and the nearest gas station was probably 5 km away. Sat in their shit ass dealership and argued for 45 mins for at least 2 bucks of gas!! Like wtf...finally gave me 2 bucks of gas in a jerry can(which they probably pissed in). Now I go to gas up and the metal flap still isn't there. Like WTF!!!! GODDDAMMIT!!!

oh yeah...they called me back today to see how it was...i told them that they didn't fix the check valve and after being on hold for 10 mins while she went and talk to the techs and the parts manager, she comes back and tells me that the check valve is inside the gas tank and is not visible. What a F**k'n MORON!!!

We had the same recall over here only specific between certain vin ranges and years pre april 2002 I think.
Not too sure on the replacement or fix but sure some members had a new gass tank installed, + free tank of petrol + small insentive parcel bag not too sure of contents. Unfortunatly mine fell out side the vin range, damn no free stuff then.
