tranbsmission interchageability

hi
i am planning to buy a tarago/previa/estima (tarago here in Australia)

one of the many things i need to confirm before i go head-long into this project is about the transmission.

i should describe my intended 1990-2000 Tarago project...

1. want big fat toyota people cruiser
2. going to unload 2TZ-FE engine and replace with another
3. want 6 speed manual (rear wheel drive only)

---
so my question for the moment is: which gearboxes are interchangeable, or easily adaptable to the existing rear wheel drivetrain?

celica had a 6 speed since 2001 (?) in Australia. the supra was even earlier with 6 speed in 1996ish. both are the C64 and come with models having the 2ZZ-GE engine. (corrolla sportiva and several other internationally)

there is also the V series 6 speed which was V160 and V161 by Getrag.
---

diff hardening or changing will be easy once the 'box is sorted. adapting _anything_ at the bellhousing will be the nightmare :(

many thanks

Re: tranbsmission interchageability

im going to keep mine very calm on the outside but yeah _major_ pimpage to be had if you wanted - when you have the space and dont care about adding weight too much :P

this thing is 4.8 metres long and 1.8 metres by 1.8 metres (width/height). king size bed, lol

i want a van for a whole range of purposes, anything but proper 4x4 operation and racing (duh!)

oh, btw - i saw the same tarago/previa/estima doing driftage!! it was an orange japanese one wasnt it?? iTube or uTube, whatever the thing is called...

the final image here is a 4x4 mitsubishi delica all monster trucked. hehe

i tried to keep the images smallish so i didnt spam your forum too much, sorry if these are any problem
