S2000 or 350z??

I've been contemplating to either keep the Celica or sell it and get another car.

I've finally made up my mind and will be selling the Celica. Now I'm down to my last 2 choices - S2000 or 350Z.

Both cars are ready for track and pretty much the same on power to weight ratio on stock form.

Main concern is reliability issue, maintenance cost and repair.

Anybody have any experience with any of these cars? Any issues at all?

tough choice, but i will have to go with 350Z. go for torque. plus its more spacious for the passenger.

I haven't driven the 350z but I've driven the s2000. All I can say is 9000rpm sounds fucking amazing especially when vtec kicked in. It is a little cramped in there but I think I will get used to it. I will be test driving the 350z this friday if the weather gets better and finally decide.

I can tell you the tranny in the 350 is amazing... same one in my frontier or so I've been told

well, the 350Z was the tuner car of the year for most magazines last yr.... but the interior of the 350Z looks kinda cheap imo

What years were you looking at for both?

Also are you planning to drive them only in the summer?

01-04 for the s2k and 03-04 for the 350z..and yes..it will be a summer car only.

that's a totally different class compared to the S2k and the Z.

Mazdaspeed 6 = AWD turbo... similair to alltrac, but with 4 doors

Mazdaspeed 3 = FWD version of MS6

Have you sat in an S2000? You might cross it off your list after you do, it's a little like sitting in the drivers seat of a tank looking out the open hatch. I would go for the MX-5 given the choice, but I don't like Nissan as a company so that's just me :).

Get a 350z. Way more potential anyways.


Although I would get a G35 over these two.

burrcold..have you driven an S2K before?...it will be good to get your opinion since you currently drive a G35 which is similar to the 350.

I have driven an S2K, as well a 350Z (the driving experience is a little different from the G35).

I liked the s2K but found it much like the celica for driving around town (underpowered). But when you open it up and get to take some twisties...I don't think it can be beat.

The 350Z is more drivable everyday. Lots of torque, but a heavy feel to it when cornering. Powerful but a somewhat boring powerband.

Shifter and tranny...s2k hands down. S2k is like butter. 350 is notchy and rough...but sort of goes along with the feeling of the car (a lot of feedback to the shifter).

Both have pretty boring interiors IMO. The 02+ s2k with the glass rear window would be my first choice if you are going for that. An 04+ 350 has far less rattles then the 03 model.

Personally I like the looks of a 350 a little better but that is subjective. Also the 350 is getting redone soon so I wouldn't want an old model vehicle. Not sure about the s2k but I have not heard anything.

Oh one more thing about the 350Z...parts are insanely expensive, and even if you want to drop it an inch or so you are looking at replacing front and rear camber arms/toe bolts...it can get very expensive.
