ya an economy at 30,000$ is an oxymoron
u get an economy car to save money on gas which takes u like 4 years to make back cause u paid 10 gran more for the thing

the prius feels no different then a stock matrix in the power department. Those numbers are deceiving.

^^it is much nicer then a civic. So many of the parts are better build quality as well. So it's not "just a civic"

i've worked on a few of em...under the leather and the shiney stuff it's a civic...

not that theres anything wrong with that....

i am just the kinda guy that would choose to save 2-3 thousand and buy a civic

it may be the same frame and all but all of the components (starter, alternator, sensors, ecu's, etc) are all made better. I know because we supply almost all these parts for both cars and we have higher standards and use better technology and materials when it's for the 1.6 (1.7 now)

The 1.6 peppy? Last time we check it was slower then the Corolla. SOHC engine which never rev high enough to hit VTec. Even my 92 4r Corolla eat them for snack.

exactly..quality control is a huge factor but also the actual component itself uses better material quality.

how is this possible when they share parts and such?.. are you implyign that an alternator for the EL excedes quality of the honda?
