Powder Coating Vs. Painting Wheels

I'm thinking about powdercoating or painting my wheels a deep Bronze colour.

Anyone know where this could be done?
How much it would cost?
Good idea/bad idea?

Alternative suggestions other than shelling out $$$$ for new wheels?

Frank tell me about when you got your S2K wheels painted.

its cheaper to paint your wheels
also in some cases u have a better selection of colours
however its not a strong as powdercoat

any body shop could paint them for you

i got mine painted
which turned out amazing and is still holding strong to this day
however they told me there was like an epoxy glue in the primer to help it seal better (not sure if this made a difference or not)
another suggestion would be to have them clear coat the wheel a couple times..that would deffinately help them last longer

Powder coating cost me less. I saved $30 per wheel over painting.

Powder coating is 10x stronger than painting and has teh same selection of colours.

I powder coated mine and they came out amazing plus you never have to worry about paint chips or brake dust eating away at the rims.

yup painting cost an arm and a leg here in windsor.

They can get you any colour. Just make them make up a test sample first.

"it looks tough...almost like it has a lip...so much better"

and i can comper them in value...5 bucks for a nice looking change...its well worth it... 400 bucks for the same look with a bit more attention to detaill..i would rater buy the rims i want used for 500 and then have two sets... keep in mind with the right jewish attidude you can hook up a nice set of used 17's for less than 700

I will have to research this a bit more....I really don't know exactly. the 2.5 RS Impreza came with nice colour wheels so something like that. I'm really not decided yet on the exact shade, but I know I would rather lose the silver look of the stock wheels but I want to keep the stock wheels.

Also, say I get this done over the winter (I plan on getting snow tires on steelies, and then in the down time, maybe get this powder coating business done). If I need to replace the stock rubber on the already powdercoated wheels, will the tire swap damage the powder coating, or should i wait until I need new rubber on the stock wheels to get this done?
