what makes you think i don't like you. some times i come across as abrasive but that mostly because i hate it when people puke garbage information into their keyboards with their fingers and it results in people on this board being misinformed. i get very tired of people answering questions they know nothing about doing stupid things with out consulting some one that does know first. in this post you are asking a valid question and in doing so are admiting that someone might know better than you. to me thats humble and i learnt as a young boy in church that when some one bows down to you and shows the respect to ask for your skills and knowledge it makes you a better person to help them if it's in your ability at the time but a worse person if you try to help and fail where another person could have acomplished something.
please understand, you are at a point on this forum where you have shown significant intrest but we havn't "checked you out" yet as a tuner, an enthusist or just a girl that wants to talk to random boys online (and i know you have a bf i am just stating possibilities) or for that matter a guy that likes to pose as a girl and try to get attention from car guys (you have no idea how often that shit happens). all in all please don't assume that i don't like you, if i had any hatred for you i would let you know it. promise. now back on topic here.... ![]() this is a typical test pipe, all it is made up of is a pair of flanges and a 1-2 ft section of piping. there are 2 welds involved and both can be done off the car (so it dosn't take a full service bay out of the shops day) typicaly speaking you have two options to have one made custom and cheap 1) take off your cat and go to a shop and have them match both flanges (usualy under $10 each) and weld them to a peice of straight pipe(typicaly $10-$15) that will complete the system. you can also expect them to charge you about 30 more for the mesuring and cutting of the pipe and two welds. that is all it takes if they have the parts, tools and your orignal cat. 2) take the car in and have one made by them and have them take it off and such. works the same as above but they need to use a whole bay so they will charge you about $100-$140 for the labor and parts. a test pipe bought at a store or online is in no way any better than a custom one as the goal is only to eliminate the cat as quickly as possible.

Now this is going to sound silly but in the words of Martin, I'm going to be humble
(and yes it sounds like I'm picking on you with the amount of times lately that I've referenced you in posts, but no I'm not, you can be an ass, we all can. But at the same time I respect you for the information you share) What is the purpose of a test pipe? You people have to remember when I joined this site, it was purely because I had just purchased a Celica, I know fuck all about cars and what I do know has come from: a) here b) my automotive friends c) the haynes manual d) tear it down and fix it yourself In no way do I know the entire operation of the vehicle, how a lot of the parts work, but I do know that they have a purpose and I usually know what that purpose is :D

you've been talking about me in your posts? i guess no one cares what you say most of the time then.
anyways, a test pipe is basiacly a name for a pipe that fills the area that the cat takes up in your exhaust, by removing your cat you will poloute the enviroment and kill the ozone but you will gain a few hp in most applications so it's totaly worth it. ![]() see all that shit... it's restrictive and holds back the free flow of garbage that wasn't burnt up in the motor, as it gets hot enough if burns that stuff up and makes sure no junk leaves the tail pipe. this lowers the emmisions of hydrocarbons from a combustion motor by acting as a catalyst for further ignition of the unspent gases(catalyst, catalytic converter, get it, it's a catalyst that converts unspent gasses to spent gasses by burning them as they pass through) a test pipe on the other hand is a perfectly hollow pipe that might even be disguised as a cat ( that's how i'd roll) but has no bullshit in it to slow the flow so there ya go, for being humble i've answered what a test pipe is by showing you the alternative. but for supposedly calling me out in other posts....let me elaborate... so i guess you could call the cat, your judgement and your mouth a tail pipe. currently you are running with out a cat so all sorts of shit comes out of your mouth that dirtys up the air on this board, but with some better judgment you might have some line of defence against that shit that would allow you to pass our "drive clean" test other wise known as making people like you and see value and information in your posts that makes them worth reading, once in a while you might even see a way to throw some humor in there for our benifit and if it's at the expence of a newb, so be it. does that answer your question?

to martingouda: i will never answer automotive questions unless i know the answer so you don't have to worry about that. anyways, you kinda got on my ass about the whole 8 years before getting engaged thing when i meant no harm so i got the vibe that you, for some reason, had something against me.

i wasn't trying to be mean but really a guy proposes and you come out with anything but positive comments and you are being dumb... wisdom is knowing via experience how to handel something and maybe at 18 you arn't really aware but there are a few events in life where it's better to say something nice than to say anything else at all "oh what a beautiful newborn" "i'm sorry that your ______ passed away, you have my condolences" "congratulations on the wedding, i am happy for you" these are all things you can practice knowing that no matter when you say them you are being wise beyond your years. things you will usualy get singled out for in the same settings "how come his head is shaped like a penut?" "fuck that bitch, good riddance" "are you sure about that one? she seems like a fruitcake" i mean time will tell but reallly, questioning the means that achived the end is the work of accountants and auditors. NO ONE LIKES THE IRS. some times its better to offer your good wishes and move on. in that thread you didn't know the people involved and all in all were intitled to an opinion but should have voiced it in a nicer or more open way than to be condesending to the situation. but lets let by gones be by gones... right now you are cool in my books for a guy from texas, until we get pictures and proof to sway me to your statments. as for being on your ass.... dave's the anal guy, not me

i said that it was sweet that he took he somewhere to propose and all that, but i just thought that 8 years was a long time to wait before proposing. but anyways, i suppose i will post a picture, but just out of curiousity, why did you do that to lissa's picture? did she piss you off or what?

actually it was more about the fact that her and a friend of hers assumed that we would care enough to do something with it...
i don't like people making assumptions about my actions and when they do i find that it's less predictible that i act accordingly to their expectations. but her and i have a nice relationship now that is positive and she has a spot on this site as far as i am concerned. she's the closest thing to a female OG we have. she took her shots from me (and grant) and now shes ok.
