Citychick,

If you want to go with TRD parts, you can find them dirt cheap given that Toyota is no longer developing ANYTHING for the Celica (at least not in the U.S.). Have a look here:

Just purchased (but yet to install) TRD strut/spring set and sway bars -- TRD coilovers are like half price! Comparison shop, but this will give you a good idea of starting prices for TRD products.

The advantages of purchasing the TRD set is that
(1) they self-adjust according to load (so they claim)
(2) They were designed to work harmoniously together
(3) They will definitely fit your car.

If you wish to purchase parts separately (and there are MANY suspension parts one can bolt to their car to tighten the ride), be warned that it can be a pain in the ass to select parts that work well together.

Thus, in general, I'd recommend ANY kit over a piece from here and a part from there.

Having said that, if you want to ONLY get shocks (struts):

I'd reccommend either the TRD set (with or without springs) or the KYB shocks. The KYB's, as Control One noted, can be easily adjusted with a dial using a screwdriver, I believe. However, the rear shocks are a bit harder to get to, and require you to remove the plastic around the wheel well. Lots of good reviews on these.

Like all retail products, tho', the cheaper they are the lower your expectations should be ...

As another option, especially if you want adjustable shocks, you might consider a set of coilovers -- these are very pricey, and the ride will be hard and bouncy (comfort is an afterthought at best), but if you ever do any autoxing, these will substantially improve your handling. Coilovers are about as good as it gets, but they're a bit excessive for the daily driver IMHO.

As a final thought, check out NewCelica.org and Everythingcelica.org (?) for their parts review database and message forums -- might be of some value.

Will talk with you more later -- just doing my "save the damsel in distress" bit right now :)

I would stick to TRD because if installed at the dealer, it is warrantied by toyota/trd for the rest of your cars warranty.

and we do not have street parties, we have in-bar parties.
