Celica Quesadillas

Hey all. I know absoutly nothing about Celicas and was wondering if you all could help make my decision to buy one as a project car a little easier. It looks like Ill get something in the 95-97 range. So far I have seen three models. The ST, GT, and GT-4. Could someone please explain the differences of these models? All I am interested in is the motor specs and what kind of platform I would be starting with. Just a brief synopsis as well as what you would reccomend would be great. Thanks a bunch.

I'll second that......You'll spend lots of money trying to get the others close to the performance of a stock GT-4/ALL-TRAC

ST -> 1.8L 7A-FE engine 120HP, 120lb-ft?
GT -> 2.2L 5S-FE 135HP, 140lb-ft
GTS -> Same as GT plus rear disc brake
GT4, AllTrac -> 2.0L 3S-GTE 200+HP, with AWD
Any convertion to AllTrac will be costly due to cuttting and welding to fit the drive train and stiffen up to body. You can swap the 3S-GTE in any body with minor work.

Thanks for answering my question Pineapple.

Its nice to see that not all the members here have to patronize those who dont know their Celica info.

It seems like the 3S-GTE motor swap is the thing to do. If anyone has any other ideas, id be interested in hearing them. Thanks for the info.

What kind of gains can I expect going with AWD with that engine vs. 2WD? If its worth it to go AWD, then can you please tell me what is required in that swap and what kind of $ Im looking at spending? Thanks.

if you want AWD, just buy the alltrac

if you want a GT(-S) and a swap, you're looking at about the same price as just buying the alltrac, and then problems that come along with doing a swap
