3S-GE, head gasket blown or cracked block?
Hey Guys...new to this forum and celicas in general but I'm sure I'll be around now that I have one.
The deal...got a very nice condition '86 GTS off a lady who had it die on the highway on her and let it sit for about a year. Price tag, $500 What I've found...the rad was empty, once I filled up it came out the dip stick...crappy as it leads to a couple things. Blown head gasket or cracked block. Question, do the head gaskets go on these things very often and are they prone to leak internally more so (into cylinders or oil passage) or externally onto block. Also, I have done 2 22RE top end re-builds and am not new to wrenching but how much differerent is this engine or what can i expect in this task. Any info is appreciated. -Neal ![]() |

well..it doesn't matter now as I picked up an 87' GTS in fair body condition with running engine (I actually drove it home 40 miles) for $150. i can't believe I found this thing. Will be swapping engine over and parting out remains to make money back
