Problem...

I have a 2001 Celica GT-S, and just recently I've started having problems. Throughout the gears 1-6.. exactly at 6,000 rpms the gauge pauses for a second.. and the car jerks.. and I don't have the power I use to when it continues to climb. I asked a dealership about it.. they said it sounded like a coil pack (but the car only has 41,000 miles). I just picked up the car without talking to the guy who drove it. I guess he said he said it seemed fine, something about a rev limiter kicking in. (I'm guessing he didnt get it to 6,000 fast enough). It's annoying because everyone I try to talk to about it wonders why I'm going over 6,000 rpms to begin with... Does it sound like coil packs? Should I take this back and take the guy for a drive? Any suggestions would be appriecated!
