Hit a deer on the way home from the city June 23rd. Deer is dead and he really did a number on my car. Most of the stuff is cosmetic from what I can see. I'm fine, happened so fast, i didn't have time to brake, swerve, nothing. just "BOOM!" "WTF????"
Hood, passenger headlight, passenger fender, front bumper, fan assembly behind the radiator, the mount broke on the rad overflow reseivoir, not sure about the washer fluid thingie, large engine plastic cracked. bumper actually fared pretty good for hitting a deer dead on at 115kmh. All the mounts and brackets are still in place. quick phone pic, better pics to follow. ![]() deer who PWN3D my car! ![]() put the two images together...... I think the bumper knocked his legs out and he bounced off the hood. I'm fine, and lucky he didn't go through the windshield or anything. Notified the police so I'll bring it in on monday to get the damage paperwork and an estimate. ![]() Fast forward a week later, the insurance adjuster scopes the car out and does his report. I pull back in the garageThe next day as I'm driving down to go to the shop and my hood flies up and takes out my freakin windsield, the plastic by the washers is cracked and now the DRIVERS fender is bent a bit. Hoodscoop is toast as well. BUt it probably kept the hood from damaging the roof where the windsheild meets the window. Here's the pics for the new damage. The guy at the shop said he'll phone the adjuster and add the damage to the initial damage, since this damage was caused by the last damage (hood not properly secured) Good news, he's all for the CF hood. The OEM will be around $150, then $290 to paint. So I can get the new one for the $60.00 difference. Hes getting me a new VIS hoodscoop to replace it, TRD bumper, windshield etc etc. I left it at the shop, they're going to start taking it apart and will leave it inside until it's done so thats cool. Here's the NEW damage. dammit! lol my car is getting sweeter by the day! NOT! ![]() Here's a couple pics of my new hood and hatch.. The car should be ready by his wed - friday. VIS CF OEM. VIS CF Hatch ![]() More pics from the shop. Hatch is in. in these shots the hatch wasn't closed, we just set it down, the closed fittment is great! I just need a cf hatch handle to replace mine. Phone pics. I sent my mom with her decent camera but she took pics of the front and nothing from the rear. lol A hood is not a hatch. ![]() The thing that pisses me off is I had the appointment on July 7th to get my car turbod. Now I have to wait until the 26th. But at least I'll have my car back this friday and it will be a bit sweeter. New window, new fenders, cf hood cf hatch new trd bumper. yay. :D

Man, consider yourself fortunate it's not a lot worse! I see this kind of thing quite a bit where I live, and it normally really wipes out the front end. I believe the low-angular profile did a lot to deflect the mass of impact. It's not unusual to see repair bills well over $8,000 on late model cars that engage Rudolph's imbred cousins. Hope your insurance company treats you fair.
scootertrog Did you get to keep the deer? :) |
