Pause while accelerating

Does anyone feel a pause in acceleration in a GT-S at like 5,000RPM. I sometimes feel a pause like something is trying to catch up or something. I was wondering if anyone else with a GT-S feels this. Input either way would help. I am just wondering so I know if I should take it in to get looked at. Oh yeah I have only had the car for like 2 months so I am not sure how long it has been doing it.

Thanks Matt

im not positive but i think its the vvt-i(variable valve timing) kicking in, cuz i was just in a gt-s a week ago and it was doing that. my dad said it was just more valves open once you get to a certian rpm.

Re: Pause while accelerating

Thought i'd renew this old post, because I've noticed the same thing, generally the engine's acceleration pauses just past 5000, not every time either. I don't think its the lift kickin in, that doesn't go til what.. 6000 or so? so i'm not sure what it is, but its driving me nuts, i just threw in some new plugs today, and that didn't really help, any thoughts?

Re: Pause while accelerating

The pause is supposted to be there. I have read this on other forums as well. It happens before lift is going to occur.

Re: Pause while accelerating

well, lift is at 6000, this pause is a substantial pause and actually moves me in my seat, and this pause happens at 5000, so no, not lift related.. the only thing that happens for lift is an oil pressure switch goes off, at that point, you hit lift, and the oil pressure switch will not go off before 6000. i could possibly understand a small pause or somethin aaround 6000, but this is a big pause around 5000, and it doesn't happen all the time, so i dunno. seems too big and noticeable to just be a dead spot in the power band.

Re: Pause while accelerating

Perhaps your MAF? Different motor I know, have a GT and experienced the same condition. At around 70k miles started having this problem. Car became hesitant, and would not pull like it used to. Turned out to be the MAF. Cleaning it did NOT work. They seem to have a finite life. Fwiw.
