Engine Screwed?
OK guys I messed up my 2000 toyota celica gt-s. I'll keep it really short. Basically i ran into a puddle, and my car shut off on me. I got some help and was able to get it out of the puddle. I was able to start the car so I drove it back home. It sounded like it was going to die on me everytime I would slow down or come to a stop. So I had to keep revving it. Stupid me basically the next day drive it to work, and once I get off, start driving home. I'm on the highway and all of a sudden it feels like something really heavy jumped out of my car. I come to a light and then the car just dies on me. So I sit for a minute, ask my gf's dad for advice ( which i should have listened to in the first place ) and tells me if i can start it, go ahead and drive it home because I was only about 2 minutes away from where I live. So I'm at the light make another turn, and it dies again, this time smoke comes out of my engine. So of course I wasnt goin to bother anymore, and i had my gf's dad tow it back home. Days pass and i figure I'll try and start big mistake it just dies on me again. Seeing how I'm not rich of course I let it sit for about a week or more and finally tow it to my parents house, and i notice on the ground AWHOLE bunch of oil....... basically the car sounds like its goin to start..but of course it doesnt. Ive checked to see if i have blown my engine and my friend has told me no because my pistons arent stickin out. I have another friend tellin me i have a busted oil pan and basically get that fixed and it should run again. And then my gf's dad is tellin me my injectors are flooded? I DUNNO...someone let me know whats goin on........thanks

His engine is dry. He drove it home after it got out of the puddle. Whatever water got in the engine got out already. He won't be driving home if its hydrolocked. It won't even turn over.
Did you ever check oil after you got out of the puddle? How deep was the puddle? Or you mean a pothole? |

water dosn't compress.. so when you try to compress it it stresses the cuylinder walls and the head
the motor can't contain it and BOOM blown gaskets everywhere. then you get mad leaks welcome to new motor land... now heres the key.... call toyota and see if you can supercharger while you are doing the sawp and make it worth while.

how hard did you hit this puddle? Was it smoke or steam? Is there any oil left in the pan?If so what does it look like? does it crank heavy? whats your coolant level at?

Your right with water doesn't compress(at least not liquid form). But depending on the amount of water in the cylinders, it wouldn't necessary blow any gaskets, little amounts of water can be tolerated. Ever hear of water injection? You got to look on the positive side, you dont have to worry about pre-ignition with all the water. |
