for those who have had their engines repaired or replaced

Sorry for the long post but if this has happened to you please read on and respond

thanx

so my car is at the dealership (Milton Toyota) as they try to figure out
why the motor is burning so much oil (almost 2 liters/month)!
They are telling me that there isnt much they can do due to the fact that it
is out of warranty at 126000 but i told them that i have been burning oil
since around 80000 then a mechanic from the back chirped up and said
"that is a very uncommon thing in that type of car" to which i replied that
i know of many people that have had to have their motors repaired or
replaced and he acted all shocked. So what i would like everyone to do
is to post their stories their vehicles that burn oil and what has been done
to remedy the problem....even if u havent had it repaired i would still like
to hear what u have to say.... ammunition is a wonderful thing when
dealing with a dealership!
other than that i will keep u all posted on my quest to get this problem fixed

a little OT, but funny story...I know a guy who went thru 14L of oil in less than a month (in a brand new Mazda B-series)...couldn't find a leak, or any reason that it would be...than he came back a week later and his friend pointed out that he should shift outta 2nd when driving down the highway at 80km/h.

mines going through that process right now, mines still under warranty for another month so they are swapping out the short block this oil problem is a very common thing, supposedly the 2003 block dont have this problem so they should swap them out for you but i think yours is out of warranty, mines only at 77000km and they started an "oil consumption test" and i kept losing more and more oil so they are just swappin the block

Question

Could I ask what seems to be the key issue with the block? My 2000 is using oil also, but I am sure it is not burning it. When I stop, I am sure I can smell oil, but I have no puddles and the dealer has told me the car is not leaking. If it is a block issue, how so? Thanks.

my 00 GT burned oil like no other....I topped it up every 2 weeks. Got rid of it before anything major happened though.

Is this on the 02 as well? Mine is sitting right at 62K. I haven't noticed any oil consumption at all yet...Yet?

this sounds familiar, the 1zz on my '00 corolla was doing he same thing, until it finally threw a rod this friday, and now there's a hole in my block. any suggestions or links or official documentation on this problem? were there any known recalls or hidden warranty coverage? now, how to convince the dealer or toyota to replace my engine, since it was only at 112km...

Re: for those who have had their engines repaired or replaced

Anyone know what happened here?
I'm having the same issue and I wanted to see if PHD was successful in fixing this problem.
I wonder did they just replace the block with a post 2003 block?

I have nothing to add except that my 2000 GT is using about a quart of oil every 900 miles.
