GT-S Header

I was thinking about getting a DC sports header and I was looking at the stock setup the Celica has. I noticed that the header is one piece almost all the way back to the axle and the cat is integrated into it all. Well, this may not be the case, but from what I can tell it seems to be.

So, because of this i was wondering how you put on a new header, is there cutting and welding required? I do have access to a welder 24/7 so thats not a problem, I was just wondering.

Also, while I got my header installed I was also looking to remove the resonator on there. Is there a noticible difference in the exhaust decible? I want it a little louder, considering I have Greddy EVO2 exhaust, and its almost silent, but will it be obnoxious?

Sorry for all the questions, I just want to know what I'm doing before I attempt to do it.

Re: GT-S Header

from what i know, the DC header doesnt really do much, other than add a tiny bit of hp on the top end, while hurting the power at low to mid range rpm. did you notice a gain?

and yes, you will get a louder exhaust note by going cat-less. i have yet to hear a cat-less celica in person... i did hear the kazuma, and oh crap, does that thing scream at you!

as for cutting and welding... i dont think you need to do any of that, unless you're doing a custom setup. i'd say it should all be just bolt in.

Re: GT-S Header

That air injection pipe on the later models is a real pain, might require cutting to take the stock header out. But then I got rid of the entire air injection system.
I know alot of peeps are using that boosted2.0 port and pollished header, stock core with die grinding on the welds and bores to open and clean up gives average gains but will vary per car due to mods.
