if you plan on racing and winning some races, dun go with the celica, it's more for show not for racing. no doubt it's fast, but it's not as fast and you can't modify it to get alot of hp out of it unless you change your car. ;)

lol crush the dreams of the celica owner so soon, they are right though car can act fast but u will be in the moderate fast bracket, my suggestion being a new celica owner my self is focus on looks first, I have a thread on swaps to emprovise ur speed but seeing as there are not that many options ur best bet is make the small adjustments i.e. header, CAI, and so forth not sure if thats where I am going yet or with a swap but my celica is probably a 2 year project to get it where i want seeing as I bought it all stock.

Compression is too high, for one thing. Also, it's making quite a bit of horsepower considering what it is at stock, so adding a bunch more on top of it can get fairly costly. A turbo will require a lot more work done to the car than a supercharger.
Seems the general consensus is that 8psi or so is the safe max that the stock engine can take, netting you maybe 80HP, for ~$5000usd. Not the most cost effective way to improve your whole car. |

Typically, lower compression puts less stress on the engine. When you have a higher compression, such as what's on the GT-S, putting the turbo on, adding more stress to the engine, is not always a good thing. It's much easier to Turbocharge a GT, rather than a GT-S. There ARE turbo kits out there for the GT-S, and quite a few more in development.
But, if you're not going to worry about it for awhile, worry about the other things, such as i/h/e, lowering springs, that sorta things. |
